Hey Guys

I found this program called PhanTim3 where you can make countdowns for your desktop. I made some skins for the program for GTA IV. Check em' out and tell me what you think.

The program (its very small and easy to run) can be found HERE (http://www.phantim3.com/download/)

and you can find the skins i made (its in a ZIP file) HERE (http://www.mediafire.com/?qe9ch0w0tuy)

Once you install the program:

First - Unzip the GTA Skins Pack i created and put the files in the skins folder of the program (...PhanTim3\Skins\)

Then - set the time of the GTA release (or whenever your going to get it, I put the midnight release time...) by right clicking the program and going to Set Date/Time.

And Finally - Right click the program again and go to choose skin and go with your favorite...

If you guys enjoy this I'll make some more skins tomorrow... Let me know!

P.S. Also its easy to make your own skins they teach you how on their site...

I downloaded a GTA IV count down clock from the Microsoft Vista widget website. Pretty nifty, and it does what it's supposed to do: count down.

i dont know how hard it is to make skins but how about one where the edges fade out to make it blend on my desktop better

like a gradient or something

Well its pretty easy to make skins check out their site...

But I know there is an option to change the countdown's opacity... It would blend with your desktop then...

If anyone uses Samurize for their Computer stats display...here's the script I used to put a Countdown on my desktop:

http://www.samurize.com/modules/mydownload...cid=14&lid=1946

Configuring it is pretty easy:

Setup an ActiveScript Plugin

Set the script to be used to "Count Down and Count up.js"

Set function to CountDownorUp

Put in the proper parameteres for the date and time. for midnight you would use hours: 0 minutes: 0 seconds: 0

For the Display Format I used: <DaysTotal>d <Hours>h <Minutes>m <Seconds>s (<DownOrUp>)

Then I added "GTA IV Release:" to text field on the display tab like this:

GTA IV Release:

%v

where %v is the value the script creates.

Set it to refresh more frequently and set it to every 1 seconds. I haven't noticed a performance impact as a result of running this script every second...but it might be there.

Then just format so it looks how you want.

I don't recommend this unless you already know Samurize though. I have a detailed display of my computer stats on the left side of my widescreen LCD...it displays always...so it was natural to put the GTA countdown in it just like everyone has been doing with the Vista Sidebar widget.

Thanks, dude. Already have one on my iPhone, but it's cool to have one on the computer as well.

Nice skins, too. icon14.gif

I have another way of doing it, which requires no downloading whatsoever.

1) Right-click on your desktop and click "Properties"

2) Click the Desktop tab in the resulting window

3) Click "Customize Desktop" at the bottom

4) Click "New" on the side

5) For "Location" put in http://www.gta4.net/news/index.php and click okay

6) This is optional. If you leave your computer on 24/7 like me you can click Properties and then the Schedule tab. Click Add and then input a time when you're never on the comp (when you're at work/school, or asleep for example, so it doesn't interfere with anything you're doing on the net)

Too hard. cry.gif

AHH! It freaks me out to see it say '94 days' left. It's like some horrible nightmare.
