Lemlestarn
Apologies if this has been mentioned somewhere. Has there been any talk regarding using mouse and keyboard as controls with the console versions? It should be possible to connect regular USB devices I guess, but has there been any mention if GTA4 will support this? Having played the previous (3D) GTA games on both console and PC, the mouse and keyboard controls on the PC made it a completely superior experience IMHO. It would be great to have this feature on the 360 and PS3!
Vendettagainst
There was hardly a huge outcry for mouse control on console versions of GTA so I highly doubt it... If you really need to use the keyboard and mouse all you have to do is wait a year for the PC version and you're golden.
Sintwar
apparently it is fairly buggy, but here you go. http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/12316/Connec...-Your-Xbox-360/

Sintwar
Here: This will allow you to use mouse and keyboard for any game on your 360 XCM XFPS Sniper v3.0 - $89.99 XCM XFPS 3.0 Sniper Plus - $97.99 I agree (as do anyone who has ever used mouse and keyboard for FPS). You just can't compete with M&K when it comes to FPS. Especially with a console controller. I just ordered mine (thanks for reminding me haha), so I will let you know how it is when I get mine fired up if you like. If it even comes close to being as accurate as a mouse on a PC, it is well worth every penny.
KTR
There is some company that makes adapters so that you can use keyboard and mouse for any games, but they are a tad pricey. Also there is the Splitfish FragFX for the ps3. Edit: ^^^^ those are the links. As for the FRAGFX, here it is. http://www.splitfish.com/page.cfm?pageid=
Sintwar
Control pads are your friend. I really cant understand how using a keyboard would be in any way superior Precision aiming is the main reason. use your mouse to point at anything on this screen. Pick some small icon, and then see how long it takes you to point your mouse cursor at it. Then, get on your Xbox, and try to see how quickly you can precisely target something on the screen as small as the icon you pointed to with your mouse on your PC. Unless you are extremely lucky, it will take a few passes to hit your mark dead on. Mouse also makes it that much easier to hit moving targets from a distance. Unless of course there is auto targeting, which to be quite honest, was invented specifically for consoles "because" it is so much harder to precisely target with the joypad. FourForty
I understand using a K&M for FPS games. i can't play games like Halo on a console. i just can't get used to a controller, im used to a K&M. But for the driving aspect, I much prefer a controller. So i think GTA is more suited for a controller. and with a PC version on the way, which will increase profit, i don't see a reason for them to spend time programming in the K&M functionality for consoles. It would be great to have this feature on the 360 and PS3! Probably not, and why the f*ck would you want a mouse/keyboard for an un-FPS game? There would be no pressure sensitivity, no analog sensitivity, no rumble or anything like that, just THIS BUTTON = Extremely old controls. On the PS3/360 controller, depending on how hard you press the gas pedal, you go slow/faster. On the PS3/360 controller, depending on how much you push the analog stick left down up or right, determines how fast neko walks, and how sharp turns are. Without those, Niko immediately runs and you'd have to hold some stupid button to walk. Without them, you'd only be able to make SUPER sharp turns or no turn at all. Mouse/Keyboard suck for anything other than FPSes. Controllers are so much better in every aspect for a game like GTA.

The only difference is that you are looking at the back of the person instead of from his POV. As far as walking speed, you might be able to bind a toggle for walking and running to the keyboard. Hell, you might even be able to bind it to the mouse wheel, which would be cool. I agree with the rumble, but if you are playing multiplayer, and you even halfway care about your score, then using a mouse for aiming is the only way to go. I just ordered the XCM XFPS 3.0 Sniper Plus, and I am hoping I can use a USB mouse, PS2 keyboard, and still have a controller plugged in for driving and headset. We'll see. Either way, I will be handing you your ass in multiplayer. Guaranteed.
Lemlestarn
I saw a demo of an adapter for attaching mouse and keyboard to the PS3, but the controls didn't look that good. When he moved the mouse, the aiming on the screen didn't seem as precise as I would like. Maybe it's better than nothing though. As for driving with a keyboard, well, I completed the city track time trial in the San Andreas driving school at 83.33 seconds using a keyboard. Personally I prefer "on/off" driving controls in action driving games, whereas I imagine analog controls will always be unbeatable for simulator style racing. I think the console manufacturers could have a lot to gain from pressuring game developers to support keyboard and mouse by default in their games. It doesn't have to be a problem that mouse and keyboard is vastly superior in FPS type games either, just put in server filters like in UT3. eagle016
You could connect one... but since R* didn't develop the game for it then you couldn't use it. The question is why would you want to? But remember... it's impossible to do so.
