DDR Midian
What's the advantage of having a bought car and a stolen car which is EXACTLY the same. You can't say "Its legal etc" because being in the country on the game is illegal. Exclusive cars you can't find on the street. Money is totally pointless if there's no incentive to save it, buying hotdogs will get old sh*t fast... I'm never gonna bother with the "save $500,000" achievement unless there are things worth buying that cost more than a freakin' taxi ride. Also... I dunno if anyone's mentioned it, but the OPM review confirmed that there is a car showroom in the game. They didn't specifically say you could buy anything from it, they just talked about smashing through the window and scaring the staff.
Niko-Claude Vercetti
I dont think your going to have any money in the game. In trailer 2 one of the characters says to Niko 'so your the guy who got jacked for a couple of million' I think your going to spend the game getting that money back! It replenishes you health. Taxi rides are there, yes for the novelty, but also because theres a much more realistic approach to jacking cars. Yes, there could be a buying car option, but I personally don't see the point.

You can't say "Its legal etc" because being in the country on the game is illegal. Because it would probably always spawn on you're property. Maybe during the storyline you can only but used cars and then when you're finished the storyline you get the ability to purchase from luxury dealerships. You go from Rags to slightly better rags. That means no luxury cars, no millions of dollars, no busninesses etc.
DDR Midian
Well I just think money shouldn't be so important if it's not fun. They need to give you something to lust over, something to stare at and drool, something you spend ages saving up for that gives you a feeling of satisfication when you can finally afford it. Everyone likes collecting things and having rare items, so even if it's not cars there should be something in the game that you want. Something you can't have until you earn it. GloRy
If people are saying there might be different cars you have to buy that aren't on the street. Well couldn't you just steal it at the dealership? lol
jer542
oy. I think its pretty obvious you wont be buying cars in GTA IV, There very well could be a dealership(s) for the sake of realism, but the title of the game pretty much implies its concept and, im sorry to say, you wont be buying a car in GRAND THEFT AUTO. Public Enemy #1
You go from Rags to slightly better rags. That means no luxury cars, no millions of dollars, no busninesses etc. I'm really very tired of this very stupid interpretation of a simple sentence. It's a free-roam game. What's going to stop me from killing thousands of peds and taking their money, doing taxi missions and more to get as much money as I want? Use that space between your ears, moron. Money in GTA does not only come from main story missions. For example, I'm sure there's going to be good money to be earned in the car-stealing side missions. Regardless, if I want to become a millionaire in GTA IV, I'm going to be a millionaire. I think I speak for most of us when I say that we just want something useful and enjoyable to spend our money on.
BlackMamba47
One of the problems with the last games is that after a certain point in the game, you had so much money that you really had nothing else to do with it. The problem was at its worst in GTA3 (before you could purchase properties), was somewhat alleviated in VC (the properties helped, along with less mission rewards), but came back in SA (very little in the way of properties, although you could buy cars in SA). If we were able to buy cars, it would not only give us something to do with the cash we accrue (which will undoubtedly be a lot no matter what anyone says), but also something for us to work towards outside of simply completing the next mission. Since multiplayer is being scored on how much money you can gather through killing or accomplishing goals, that makes me think that even though we wont become a kingpin of the city (although the human mind is smarter than any AI in the game, so we will have a certain degree of power), the money that we do get will have to go somewhere. We know that Nico can and will purchase new clothes and whatnot, so it would be somewhat safe to assume that we will be able to purchase cars. I for one want the feature, and considering nearly every GTA-clone and GTA3 and SA had a way to "purchase" cars (at the docks in both games), I see no reason why R* wouldn't add the feature. They have said it would be harder to steal cars, so a likely alternative would be to go legit.
Boris Carloff
Buying Cars would add a bit of realism to the game because the days of walking up to any car and driving away with it untouched is gone, In order to steal cars we have to break the windows of the cars and the Police AI picks up on this and you become wanted for driving the car. I understand its called Grand Theft Auto but does anyone remember the Import/Export Ship in SA, you could buy cars there. Also the luxury cars have voice GPS systems so maybe thats an incentive to buy cars.

I'm not saying there will be another exploit, but there will be some easy ways to get money later in the game.
Algonquin Assassin
Just because the game is called Grand Theft Auto, doesn't mean you can't buy a car. Using that logic the whole game should revolve around stealing cars. No killing peds, buying guns etc, because of the title? what stupid logic. Since cars are alot harder to steal, the incentive of buying your own personal car could come in handy. As for the "rags to slightly better rags" saying affecting the purchase of a car, so just because you don't have alot of money, you can't buy a car? My first car cost me $1000. Neolistic
The smartest thing Rockstar could have done is make it possible to use the money from single player on multiplayer items to customize your character. Rewarding people with the best outfits and such with the funds from single player, giving people a reason to beat the whole game, maybe more than once for money. Unfortunately they did not hire a outstanding out of the box thinker like myself.

If we were basing it on name alone, Grand Theft Auto would indicate some sort of "Gone in Sixty Seconds" type game, which it clearly isn't. It's evolved into something far beyond it's namesake. needforspeed01
this has me thinking.... is this new gta4 so basic that we are all bitching about buying cars???? I for one wish that niko can be fully customized and we could bring the car customization feature back into this series like in san andreas... it was just to cool to take almost ANY car in the game and customize it to your liking.
