People who complain because of underage GTA lovers

Recommended Posts

I have no problems with Underage GTA fans...really I don't...as long as their parents know the content and approve of them playing it. I say that because how are we supposed to know the maturity level of a kid? The system is in place to at least try to force a check on whether they are mature or not. It does that by making someone who we can reasonably assume is mature, judge the player for themselves and decide whether or not they are mature. The problems I have with underage people is when the parents just don't give a sh*t what their kids play. Buying them the game or using their money to buy the game is just done to shut them up as they whine for the game. If this were a perfect world parents like that would have their kids taken away and put in jail for negligence.

Some underage people are mature....but it should be up to their parent to decide that.

A couple of my friends have kids (under 12) and allow them to play violent video games...but they supervise them while they do it. I have no problems with that.

My harsh stance on this comes from a specific incident I experienced while working at Target. (yes I'll repeat it again)

10 year old kid comes up to the Electronics Counter I was working at. He asks to buy Vice City. I tell him he needs a parent or guardian to buy it for him.

He comes back with his dad. His dad asks to buy it. I inform him of the content of Vice City. He refused to buy it for his kid because of the content.

20 minutes later the kid comes back, this time with his mother. I could tell he had been ragging on her about buying the game as she wouldn't even listen to what the game contained...she just wanted to buy the game to shut him up.

and I'm 28...I have been of legal age for every single GTA released...though I didn't really get into them until GTA 2.

I have to say that I am 17 almost 18(may 3rd woohoo) and I remember getting GTA3 for like my 13th birthday(maybe 12th), i remember going to walmart the day SA came out when i was 14/15. I never felt too immature to play that game then and although i think that it's wrong for young people to play games like this, i realize that i was very young the first time i bought the game so i can't complain. I just hope that people that are too young to play don't play it because of the hookers or w.e i hope they can still be mature about it.

Ok, so I was just reading a thread where this guy was complaining about there being too many underage GTA fans...

For all you people who feel the same, just think about it. If you were 15/16 whatever, and GTA IV was on the horizon, would you tell your mum or dad not to buy you GTA IV because you're underage? No, I didn't think so... So basically stop being an uptight bastard and stop being jealous because you're not the only person in the world who has access to possibly the greatest game of the decade...

Oh and I'm 18...

I don't know why he would be so pissed if he was actually 18, and of age to buy GTA IV.....you know what that means?

WITCH!!!

I don't care how old the fans are. I've always gotten along with people of all ages, so it doesn't bother me. The only complaint I can see coming is that there are a lot of little turds messing up MP.

But MP, for me, stinks anyway, and so I don't care even there.

As long as kids don't cuss, I don't care if they play GTA at all.

I've been playing GTA games since I was about 14, and I have yet to kill anyone. This arguement is so rediculous. There will always be crazy people out there who use some medium or another to try to find an excuse for their crazy actions. Stopping the games won't prevent it.

The game is rated M and that is a great thing. There has to be ratings for games so (concerned, not the uncaring dumbasses) parents can make informed decisions upon what their little brats are going to play. Some of you little heroes might be the most mature 13 year olds out there, but there are still loads of 13 year old dimwits that shouldn't be allowed to participate in society - let alone play GTA.

Games affect young minds and that's a fact. At some point a person learns to separate fact from fiction. This happens at different ages with different people. It's unreasonable to require game store staff to make a decision on your maturity upon a 2 minute encounter where you scream you want GTA in your most mature pre-pubescent voice. That's why there are age restrictions and they are absolute.

In a dream world parents could make the decision on wheather their little worm is mature enough to handle GTA. Unfortunately there is no standard maturity test for becoming a parent and most people should not be allowed to multiply let alone contaminate childrens minds. Im sure this sounds harsh to some, afterall you've just started getting hair in new places and you've started to develop healthy interest in the opposite sex, but so has brat next door with an IQ of a shovel. Now some 18 year old might not be any better, but you got to draw the line somewhere. Nobody has the time to sort out who's mature enough to buy this and that.

Its just the goons on their high horses that cry about underaged players

???

If I'm upset because some kid is flapping his jaws non-stop on Halo 3 because he is hyper-active and likes to hear himself talk -- that translates to me getting on my high horse?

Last night I heard this coming from a little pip squeak voicebox: "Anyone want the splatter achievement? Hey, you want the splatter achievement? Someone come help me get the splatter achievement? You jerk, I'm trying to get the splatter achievement! Don't kill me guys, I'm serious, I want the splatter achievement..." It just went on and on and I had to sacrifice my score to stop and take the time to mute him.

Younger people are still in the "Me! Me! Me!" stage and have no concept (or concern) about how their behavior affects other players. More mature players weigh whether their contribution to voice chat is beneficial or not before flapping.

GTA might be even worse. I'm very afraid of the underage ruining the online experience for many.

If that's my high horse then so be it. My horse must be huge.

to be honest i cant really see how GTA IV is an 18 (or how any videogame can be).

I still dont think that games have reached the level where they are so graphically brilliant that you can't disinguish between real life and the game.

Manhunt and alike are a bit spooky and gory in places, but which 14 year old hasn't seen violence on TV after 9pm?

And how Army of Two is an 18? Don't get me started...

[p.s. I'm 16 and played all of the GTA series]

I'm a month and nine days from 16 and I agree. As long as you have no mental problems, all is well. Ever notice how every murderer influenced by video games already had established medical issues?

Hell, even my mom likes some parts. We once spent some time just listening to VCPR all the way through on Vice City and she likes my Maurice Chavez impression.

My name is Maurice Chaves, as in I am Maurice Chavez...

Not Chayves.... or Cha-vees.... Chavez

Favourite line from VCPR. Maurice was awesome! biggrin.gif I was about 15 when I played it.

I am 14, I think this game should be experienced by underaged players, but only with permission, I may be young, but I am not stupid enough to play this game, then go out with an uzi and shoot up my neighbours. It's only people who are trusted to have this game end up getting it, it's a hard one whether the person is going to be mature about it or not, but that's life, there are ups and downs whether we should have it or not anyway.

I'm 15, few months until I'm 16, and my mum and dad happily let me have it. They know what it contains but it's with my money.

Plus, as long as I don't get influenced by it, and don't act like a total t**t whats the problem with having it?

exactly ! same here pal !

how about because it's funny to watch people stress out about it?

Seriously, it's quite amusing watching people justify why youngsters should be allowed to play on the game.

As for the bold part, i don't know how many parents offer to buy GTA for their children out of the blue.

I'm the uptight bastard for winding up kids? Yeah okay...

You're 18 years old and can't accept humor? biggrin.gif That's quite humorous in itself i suppose.
