Grand Theft Auto IV: So Good, It's Criminal

Ugh, a surprisingly non-bias, non-sensational, non-'moral panic', non-alarmist article from The Daily Mail. turn.gif

Loved how Dan had a little dig at them:

We don't make them for the Daily Mail, or Keith Vaz or any of these other jokers, but for the people who play it and hopefully enjoy it.

I love this companies ethos!

And In game TV sounds very interesting. icon14.gif

I wonder if the TV imagery is pre-rendered or real-time? I'd guess the latter because two hours of rendered video, unless horribly compressed, would eat into the DVD storage budget too much.

"I've never seen that happen before," says my companion.

"Tee hee," I say.

You can be sure that if it WAS the Daily Mail, it would be full of "this game will corrupt a whole generation of kids"-style quotes

Whooops! tounge.gif I knew it was too good to be true.

Also, on the plus side, I wasn't adding to The Daily Mail's site hits!

Makes sense. Most of the videos on the GTA website are in commerical format; I wouldn't be surprised if we saw them in-game on the televison.

I wonder if the tv will be like in The Darkness... I remember you could sit there and watch To Kill a Mockingbird, I watched it for like 10 mins thinking it was going to loop or something but I said screw it cuz I was getting bored and just left while it was still on.

I also wonder how the TV and movie theater thing is going to be done?

Will they use GTA style graphics to make the shows and films, or actual human-in-the-flesh footage (although I think that would look kind of weird seeing real human actors in a GTA world)

The Darkness, like the guy mentioned, did it well using real movies. But I cant see GTA using that.

Even better, they have helicopter tours you can take that do exactly that.

If you blow up half a city block you can expect to hear about it on the in-game evening news or read it on the Times Square tickertape.

I think that was the most interesting thing in the read.

Hes never played GTA before.

My thoughts exactly.

Even people I know who don't fancy GTA certainly don't think it's "boring".
