Investing in Take Two

Recommended Posts

I was actually thinking about this as well. Now i don't know too much about the stock market, almost nothing actually. But isn't buying T2 stock right now a smart move? If GTAIV sales go good won't T2s stock price go up?

Oh and even though i have an Xbox i like your sig gagebastian.

No. I mean, it will go up on GTA IV's release, but the right time to buy it was when it went really low in winter '07, then profiting with GTA IV's release.

Oh gotcha. And do you guys really think EA will try to buy another company now? Wasn't the whole point in acquiring T2 to profit from GTA and also take out one of their main competitors to EA Sports which is 2k, that is owned by T2.

But, say EA offers like, $4 billion and eventually buys out Take-Two, wouldnt shareholders get a portion of that in addition to GTAIV sales? Sorry if thats a dumb question, I too know nothing about the stock-market.

haha well EA wont double their offer but the tender offer expires tomorrow, so you can expect a larger offer after the release of GTA IV. It's estimated that the release will bring the stock up to about 32 a share, and so the EA offer will most likely be around 34. It's also possible that EA will make an offer around 32 dollars a share tomorrow or the next day, so although its a little late to be buying T2 stock, if u do buy it, make sure its before tomorrow or at the very least the day after.

If EA does that they are buying the majority of the stock for that company. That number amount (4 billion in your scenario) is divided by the number of shares there is at that point. A price per share is calculated and EA is willing to buy a share for that amount. They need 51% of the shares to take over the company.

I thought about getting some myself...but after looking it over it just seems a bit late. While they do look like they are going to make a killing on GTA IV...as a major sequel to a popular series...this is somewhat expected...so it will rise...but not tremendously like it might if this were a brand new franchise that does extremely well.

I found out that one of my friend's bought 50 shares back in February...just before EA made the first offer...the stock price was at like 15 I think. I think he's holding onto it till at least a couple weeks after GTA is released. Not a lot of shares but it is a good chunk of change and a nice move he made (for a single father that doesn't really dabble at all in the stock market). Wish I had the money to do the same back then.

Crazy Asian
I'd say not to invest, these kind of markets are unpredictable.

Show me a market that is predictable and I'll invest heavily in it. monocle.gif

Anything in electronics is pretty much unpredictable. But some markets are predictable.
