AlterEqo
I don't really feel like people are sticking up for microsoft. I think it is more of a debate of who stands by their console. Keep in mind that the last time Sony recalled their product was never. And if they did they made you pay for it. I own a lot of Sony stuff so I know their ways. Sony is stone cold and they would never have fessed up to their beloved PS3 having a problem. That's why the PS3 is problem free if you ask Sony. But it's not. That's why people are doing 5min installs. Shouldn't that problem be resolved instead? So now blue ray is a reader drive to install stuff on your hard drive? I just don't get Sony sometimes. It's no wonder they are losing in the market. Plus they are not willing to pony up the cash for exclusives...

Zip87
Even if there is a new city, I would imagine as just one or two missions in each. It could be done, but not in freeroam. I mean you'd get on the plane in liberty city, get off at Vice city, or Los Santos or whatever airport, where you get to go out in a cutscene and get a taxi. From the taxi you can see the streets and people and whatnot, but cannot stop, only at the mission's destination, which would be a restricted area (kinda like the Marco's Bistro mission in San Andreas), restricted and whatever, so you get out, do the mission and then in a cutscene, you get back to LC. It would be kind of a teaser for the next game. I think it would be only possible this way.

Do you have a source by any chance? Also, Microsoft isn't giving away the DLC for free. It's going to cost money. Alternatively, I agree that the Xbox 360 exclusive DLC will not be a new city. It's "Episodic."
masaba
How does that in anyway hint at new cities? That is impossible. I thought that it would be, and I read this in the OXM review I believe, that the DLC would be new chapters, that featured 10+ hours of gameplay, which is more than enough. I guess it's gonna be a bit bigger than that, which is almost unheard of in terms of DLC, but I highly doubt there will be a whole new city. Hodder
You guys are forgetting a very vital point to this argument. Microsoft is using this as their "Beta" (so to speak) for DLC to become the next medium. It's been brought up in this thread, but only briefly. When the HD-DVD format finally flopped, MS was given a choice to go with Blu-Ray drives in the 360. At this time they have o interest in BR because the head honchos at MS/Xbox feel that BR is only a temporary medium, and that the future will inevitably result in the use of DLC. The last time they made a decision on "the future of gaming", they placed all of their eggs in the online gaming basket. The entire industry is still playing catch up with them in that aspect. So there is a chance that they know what they're doing. This is a lot bigger than just GTA4, this is MS going for break. It's all or nothing with this one. If they succeed, they will prove the the future of physical media is dated. If they fail, it may be Sony's time to gloat and stand tall next to their BluRay sporting PS3. We will see how it turns out. Just remember, the $50 mil is only the beginning of this deal. Once we know the details and small print of the contract we can then make a better assumption of what to expect. But to think that this content will be guns, cars and missions seems a little silly to me.

Well first off they don't actually get 500 million transfered in there bank account lol. Theres so much more then that man! Im sure the Housers are very wealthy people but I doubt the have over 100 million in there bank accounts. Just another Sony Fanboy pissed off. I knew the DLC would be good! Microsoft isn't gonna try to offer something on LIVE that won't sell like hot cakes. Microsoft knows gamers! I mean if theres a add on to the city, or like a small town thats decent sized im sold at that. But a entirely different city? If thats true everyones gonna buy it! GloRy
Sony PS3 has a great movie player but for first person shooter games why do you think they never added PS3 in Gaming Tournaments/MLG PRO/PRO GAMING CIRCUITS Nobody really gets into PS3 like people do with the 360/PC. I seriously cannot picture a PS3 Hardcore gamer. I had a PS3 but I just got really bored with it, I barely used the bluray and I found myself playing 360 more. So I eBayed it! People are favoring the PS3 here because they think its GTAS home. Well GTA was first introduced to PC, so that gives Microsoft just as much credit as Sony. I can care less, but when fanboy wars break out ill join the fun because I am a gamer. I owned all the Playstations, Xboxes, Nintendos, Segas, Atari. staurday777
well DLC for the ps3 wont be all that hard to do. even for custom DLC the ps3 has a fully functional web browser. and you can run it on windows format. so go to a cite exclusivly for ps3 downloads. and install it as such. people at my friends college are already getting organized for it. Darkgamr
its funny how all ps3 owners are denying it, or simply downsizing what it could be, HAHA i laugh in all your faces, the article says: "GTA IV is set to completely redefine the idea with expansions that are to GTA IV what Vice City or San Andreas were GTA III. Yes, Rockstar is clearly hinting at new downloadable cities" Yeah i know lol i think its funn how they making it seem like its nothing. its commen sense. who knows what 50 mil could get you. All i know that you cant get sh*t from 50 mil. are you serious? They aren't spending the 50 mil on the DLC, the average game costs only like 20 mil to fully produce, and I've heard figures between 150 and 200 mil for gta4
XDamage
Haha, it's sad to think how many who actually believed that rumour will get disappointed when the "episodic content" gets released. And btw, take a look at the cover of the magazine where that rumour started: http://www.playthree.net/2008/04/cvg-gta-i...igger-than.html "The whole story - 100% unofficial"... masser120
I cannot imagine that there will be an entire new city, without releasing it to the PS3 either. If this would be true (but estimate the chances really low) I really hope they're just talking about GTA IV's succesor, also being able to be downloaded from DLC, but also for sale in any regular store for as well as XBox360 as PS3 (as PC). lovesoup101
How can the DLC be bigger than the core game (as SA is larger than GTA4). It does not make sense. Its already be confirmed by R* that the DLC is a new side story, which is not related to the main story. its not DLC or Expansion pack in its traditional sense, Peter Moore said ,when announcing GTA IV, that the DLC wont be just a car, but a new epic gaming experience. Think about this as Half-life 2's episodes, only in massive sandbox.
