If you compare Halo 3's first week earnings to GTA IV's projected first week earnings you will see that if GTA IV was only coming out on 1 console like Halo 3 it would only sell about 3/4 as well as Halo 3 did, taking the PS3 sales out of the equation. First of all, it's multiplayer, and second of all it has a huge install base plus the fact that it is being advertised everywhere. Halo 3, which earned $300 million by selling 5 million copies in its first week 5 mil x $60 = $300 mil Okay, that's good, but what about: the publisher believes 6 million units of the Rockstar North-developed game will sell during its first week on the market, generating over $400 million in revenue. 6 mil x $60 = $360 mil That's not right. This is flawed logic. If it was only coming out on Xbox360, the people who are just buying it on PS3 would probably buy it on Xbox360 then. The only sales it would lose are to those who are buying it on both consoles now, and the people who are buying it on PS3 only AND who don't have an Xbox360 (even then, people with just a PS3 who like gta series would probably buy an Xbox360 just for GTAIV).
