GTA Dads

Just wondering how many GTA Dads we have in here? I myself am a father of a 9yr old girl.  I ask this because I want to know how many of you GTA Dads let your child play GTA?  My daughter has played VC and SA.  She doesnt do any main missions or anything..mostly just explores and has fun in helios or whatnot.  Her fav thing to do is pretend to drive legally...ie, follow traffic and traffic signals etc etc.

Now some might not agree with this, but I do think it is not a problem. Hell..my first gaming experience was PONG on Atari or on my Commodore64...if I had GTA IV when I was 9...OMG.

So Dads....Do you let your kids play GTA?

EDIT: DO NOT.. I repeat DO NOT post replies about what YOUR dad lets you do. I want to hear from THE Dads. You kids in here have enough topics to spam, please leave this one to the elders... cool.gif

my dads a dad tounge2.gif

he lets me play gta biggrin.gif

Hate to quote myself but

kids are stupid sometimes... just look at these forums.

Arguments online are just stupid, they don’t work and go on forever, spoiling what is a perfectly decent topic.

Just ignore it (unlike me).

I am a proud GTA dad!

My little boy is just about to turn 8. And no, I don't let him play GTA. He's still my sweet innocent little boy and I want to keep him that way for at least a few more years! I'm sure by the time he's 10 or 11 he'll be playing GTA games with me, but not yet.

He mostly plays PS2 and Wii.

Me? Be a dad?

I say rip 'em out!  colgate.gif

I feel so happy in the knowledge that you are going to die one day biggrin.gif

Haha. Can't handle a joke? Hehe. smile.gif

On Topic: The first GTA I played was GTA Vice City, I was 8. I'm perfectly normal, I have friends and a 3.72 GPA. smile.gif My parents know I'm mature enough, they let me play Tom Clancy games on my PSone when I was younger!

On I can handle jokes, but your humor isn't funny or welcome. Like I said I'm so happy you will die one day biggrin.gif

Everyone has a different sense of humor. smile.gif

listen kid, just f*ck off. Your previouse post states how your "mature", but all I see is an immature kid with unwelcome comments. That's it, over.

You don't have to be all butthurt just because I think different from you.

I have different opinions, you know? Everyone does, so there's no need to act like that, okay? I think you're the one acting like a child.

let's see if you still feel the same if one day you have to make the decision of wether or not to "rip it out" as you say. Keep your offensive humour to yourself, it doesn't hurt to think before you post.

I wouldn't accept to abort my kid. That's why I said it was a JOKE.

confused.gif hello everybody im 15 and i have been playing gta sinc i was 9-10.

And it has never ever crossed my mind to go out an recreate what i see in games.

I mean like some kid could see mario and think its cool to dress up as a plumber and tread on turtles , set fire to thier hands and possibly eat some mushrooms that might be poisonous.

i think that polititians concentrate too much on computer games nd not enough on tv and films.

am i right? on tv tonight there is various violent and gory films/shows on . many contain sex .and the rating office gets pissed about CJ dry humping a woman?

they should start to look at the bigger problems for a change confused.gif

please tell me what you think

Johnny Burbank

My daughter is 10 and my son is 22 (different wives).

My daughter has been playing GTA with me since VC. When she was a kid she called it "people." I would sometimes let her play "people" and she would just drive around. I let her play SA a little bit, where she drove around and played with the jetpack, but the cussing is the real problem for me. I'm an old fashioned guy in that respect; no cussing in my house, and so she didn't play much of SA.

My son and I have been playing GTA since GTA III.

Father of a 17 months girl, not really concerned yet by the question, but i guess iwouldn't let my kids playing GTA if i'm not around watching what she's doing from times to times. I mean, i won't spy on her everymove etc, i think i'd let her try what she wants for a starter, and if she's getting off limits, then game off.

I do think she'll do just like your daughter and that's fine by me ( maybe not the same deal if i had a boy hehe)

As I watch my good friend Rob raise his two kids in a house where there's always a bit of chaos and we have a life long affinity for adult entertainment per se, I find myself in their presence and still letting profanity slip in casual conversation however I know my own personal feeling is not to expose growing kids to things that are meant for adults, My friend will show a majority of music or movies he owns, within reasons, while his kids are awake or around.

He's a major horror movie buff and when there's excessive sex or violence he will actually suggest they not look or distract them, so not always the best way to handle that but I think it stems from not wanting to change your lifestyle drastically as you raise kids. I brought that up before as I think there may be things he's not doing correctly, only time will tell as his kids grow to be adults.

So much responsibility I prefer not to have kids

Hey, hey!

I have a 15 month old, not too worried about her playing it, more worried about her hearing it. Like, in SA, the N word is thrown around like a Jay at a Journey concert, so, if IV isn't so heavy on racial slurs and cussing, I'll supervise her, but hey, by the time she's old enough to coordinate a controller, I may be responding to the same question about GTA: Vice City 2, or whatever they're gonna do next. Hell yeah, VC...

So much responsibility I prefer not to have kids

You're not kidding, the responsibility that comes with being a good parent can be overwhelming.

I remember being up at 4:00AM in the morning, not having slept more than 2 hours a night the passed week, holding a screaming baby thinking to myself "Why did I have a child?" But once you get passed those first couple of years, everything seems to fall into place. Maybe I am just lucky, but my boy is very calm, he listens to direction, and is pretty independent. Now, I wouldn't change anything for the world. I'm so glad I have my boy. Not sure if I want another, though!

My best friends kid is crazy. He's 7 years old, runs around the house like a maniac, throws things, punches me in the balls, jumps on the furniture, beats up the cat, screams a lot, ack! It's just a nightmare. I'm scared to even let my son play with that kid.

Real talk man.

Very nice to hear from a parent how having a child could alter our life's positively.

Thank You.

Lol you make yourself sound like an old man when you say leave it to the elders. My dad lets me play GTA because he knows I'm mature enough. He watches me run from the police. But this game is so far from reality he knows it can't mess me up.( I'm a good kid, I get good grades. I had a 3.8 GPA earlier in the year.) I mean come on i fly airplanes around then parachute and go get a car, shoot down a helicopter and go drive around from the cops. Me and my dad used to play Driver 1 and 2 together. It's just a game, I honestly don't see anything wrong with letting your kids play it. If you restrict them from playing they will try and play it. It is more tempting to do something when you know you can't.

Exact same here.

My oldest child is 3, and I let him play just about anything (in fact, I downloaded Mortal Kombat 2 today). I was really hoping for split screen on GTA4, but oh well.

When I was 23, my girlfriend got pregnant. I was thrilled, she seemed happy about it too. A couple of weeks later she went and got an abortion without even telling me. Worst day of my life when she told me she did that. I broke up with her a few days later and have never talked to her again. It still kills me to this day the way she did that. I know women are the ones that have to carry the baby for 9 months, and I know child birth can be hell, but that baby was half mine and I had no say at all as it was killed. Ugh, pisses me off.

Abortion jokes are never funny.

The forums and the people who post on here do not give proof on if your parents should decide whether or not if you should get it or not. It all depends on you and your parents.

No I do not.

My mate let's his, they are 10. All they do is drive around and crash allot! I don't think they really care about the missions and the violence as they love finding a fast car and jumping off stuff or hitting cars.

When I was that age that was all I did, It took me a couple weeks of playing before I got bored enough to do the missions.

Now I don't want to start debating. But too young? How about the other people who posted saying they have played ever since 10 years old? I don't care if you don't care, I wasn't wanting a reply saying you don't care.
