inveni0
Am I the only person in the world who has never heard of such a thing as installing games on to a PS3 hard drive for better performance? I have never had to do this, and I have never read anywhere that you have to/can do on any game, least of all GTA IV. Does any one have any actual proof of this? However, GTA4 is much larger, but I think the required HDD space we've seen in photos may actually be only for save games... What photos are these? And on the photos, what size in KB, MB or GB does it state is required? You don't have to do it for GTA4, but you do have to do it for Devil May Cry 4. And the photos are of the back of the placeholder for the PS3 GTA4. It states that about 3MB are required.
Rabia
Yeah the reason i have a 20 gb is because I bought it for $500 when it came out -.- Im so pissed because a damn 40 is $300 SHOOT ME F**************************************CK Edit: well if u run out of space on the Harddrive, then you can get a External Harddrive and use that Good idea! roofy85
20gig is fine, that is if you can install GTA IV, rumours suggest you can to make it run smoother. the disk IV is coming on it only like 8.5gb and im guessing its not even gunna be that, i mean crysis was only like 6gb what console are you talking about? That 3MB though will be for the save game files, which is nothing, so to ultimately sum up the initial post - yes - your 20GB PS3 will be fine. inveni0
How big do you lot reckon GTA4 is anyway? SA was around 4gb and I know it's next-gen but it really can't be too much bigger than that. I'm saying 10gb max but I really have no clue what the average size is for games nowadays. I think that's a question PS3 owners are really asking. Will RockStar release GTA4 on BluRay, even if it's still the same size as what the 360 is getting? I'm pretty sure they'll be using BluRay (if only to cut down on piracy), but I'm thinking the game will only be about 7-8GB.

GTA.MAD.AJ
20GB = Failure, minus Wifi 40GB = Cheaper for Sony, make less loss on each console, cheap Cuts. 60GB = Just Right 80GB = Even better if your not fussed too much about PS2 Games.

Niall_S
I had no idea they made 20 gig PS3's Lol.. But yeah, you should be fine, Xbox's have 20gig too (except Elite) And you can buy a fairly cheap harddrive and stick it in your PS3. Make sure it's 2.5" though, hehe. Slamman
If you found the link I supplied yesterday it details the PS3's evolution from the IBM contract for the Cell in late 2001... So yes, 20GB HDD was offered for a PS3, however, I've never seen one. Luckily a good number of 60GBs were made so don't worry if you prefer to find one of those, I've seen plenty in used supplies. Slamman
since when do we need to install gta on any platform other than pc? - i hope you didnt believe the "fake review" u have to instal a few games onto the PS3s hardrive really? i didnt know that as i dont own one, that kinda sucks for gta does it not? Why does it suck? All it is, is 5 minutes of waiting for better performance. If games preform better that is a big advantage, but does it not waste a lot of memory on your Hard Drive? One thing you SHOULD know is that memory and Hard Drive space are certainly not the same thing. Memory is used in the hardware itself and unlike a computer, the consoles is fixed. The HDD is not. It is VERY beneficial in aiding game play to load things to HDD rather then the disc reading and the system waiting. ALSO, the BluRay disc is how the game will be stored for PS3 users, it doesn't change the game coding as it is played on screen, it merely is stored differently then the Xbox

trav23
So yes, 20GB HDD was offered for a PS3, however, I've never seen one. i have one. i bought it on purpose knowing i would eventually want to upgrade the drive, and that i'd be able to get a larger drive for less than the $100 price difference between the 20gb and 60gb. and i already had the wireless adapter i was using on my ps2, so no loss there.
