Have your friends over, and play NHL08 or whatever, then when they're at home and can't come over... that's when you play online. In those hours after work/school when people can't be arsed to go out, or a quick hour before they need to be somewhere with the girlfriend/wife/etc.. that's how you do online play. Reporters who have played it have also said that this is a problem. It often comes down to who can hit the lock-on button first. I think in Multiplayer it should be all free aim, add some skill to it. As far as splitscreen, I'm not too worried about it because my friend has a 360 and is also getting it. I had a lot of fun with COD4 online, but I fired up splitscreen for the first time yesterday and handed a controller to my 3-year old, and had MUCH more fun than playing online. It's crazy, I know, but there's something gained from splitscreen that online doesn't offer--and something from online that offline doesn't offer. However if it was a mouse and keyboard I was using I would prefer it over auto-aiming any day. I see what your saying but it shouldn't be much of a problem for people who play consoles a lot. I play cod4 all the time so I just feel like it would be the best thing to do. Of course some "auto aim" would have to be implemented but not in a lock-on way.
