Silent-Hill
Who else is looking forward to playing this game. I've never heard about it till today while i was on Wikipedia. I saw some tech videos of the game on youtube and i was blown away by the level of details and graphics. Here are the youtube links , Developer : Quantic Dream Publisher : SCEE Platform : PlayStation 3 Release date : TBA 2008 Genre : Mystery/Thriller Mode : Single-player Rating : Rating Pending The game will feature a story that is interactively "bendable", similarly to Fahrenheit. It's been told by the creators, that "the character control mechanism is an essential part in playing Heavy Rain", and is different from the system used in Fahrenheit. The player will be able to control different characters in the game. In a recent interview given by Quantic Dream co-CEO and executive producer Guillaume de Fondaumière to www.gamedaily.com, characters will be true virtual actors capable of showing highly realistic emotions. Interview with Developer: On Story: "Heavy Rain is about normal people that have landed in extraordinary situations. I wanted a much more personal story. The first thing that came to my mind, as a father of two little boys, was that the main theme should simply be a father's love for his son. This is not a game about saving the princess or the world. Its purely about a father's love." "The main story will revolve around 4 different characters, and we're putting the spotlight on their perceptions. The question 'what is good and what is evil' is the key here, that will be just a matter of viewpoint...I believe heavily in moral choices, I'm going to use them A LOT. They're not about being good or bad, but about finding the right balance." On Locations: "I don't want to do a big free-roaming city like GTA, because the flow of the story will then be hard to control. Nevertheless, I do want to incorporate big sets, with a crowd, heavy populated areas like a mall and a subway are going to be in there. Of course, the gameplay has got to make use of that aspect too." On Graphics: "People will be surprised. Internal (Sony's) feedback on graphics has been great. This is going to be a truly next-gen game. But still, we want to do something unique with the graphics, going beyond just making the most photorealistic world we can." On Gameplay: "With the release of Fahrenheit, we gave the adventure genre a new grammar. We brought new ways into the genre, new words if you want to see it like that, a new vocabulaire. With Heavy Rain, where going to expand on that same grammar." Heavy Rain Confirmed As PS3 Title That Left Reporter Speechless? Late last February, a BBC reporter was shown a trailer for a PS3 title that blew him away. "I don't mean to be a tease - all I can say is that I was left speechless....We could be on the brink of a step change in what games consoles are capable of in terms of story-telling and immersion," gushed Darren Waters of BBC News. Alas, the man had to be a tease because he was made to sign a non-disclosure agreement before witnessing the trailer for the PlayStation 3 game. According to industry insider Surfer Girl, the upcoming game is definitely Heavy Rain. "I can confirm I was right (as were many others), that PS3 title the BBC journo said was going on about is indeed Heavy Rain," wrote SG. "The technology is quite impressive, all the characters in the game are aware of the environments and contexts that they are in--it effects how they behave, what they say, how they feel, et cetera--while taking in their personality and personal experiences into account so that a character's behavior is consistent, realistic and varied." Sadly, we'll have to wait until 2009 for the Quantic Dream title to hit PS3. Edited April 24, 2008 by Silent-Hill

I remember watching it at least a year ago now and t was amazing then, and it still looks awesome now. I've played the demo on my PC a long time ago and i loved it but never bought the game Hmm. I'm not really good at remembering things like that. Silent-Hill
This seems cool but I'm a little confused. It is a screen play, and you can change the outcome when you play? That was just a tech video to showcase the power of the PS3.Yes,i think that the decisions you make in the game will result in different outcomes just like "indigo prophecy"
xinferio
Here is a tech demo, running on the PS3 (just incase you missed this one) to show what is capable with it: I think this is amazing. If Quantic Dream can make Heavy Rain look that good, I think it could be the most immersive game ever made. @Silent-Hill: Yeah I'm sure it's similar to Indigo Prophecy in that context. technomm
I guess there's a counterpart for this game on Xbox 360 too, called Alan Wake.It is MS-exclusive tho and will be released for Windows Vista as well. It's classified as a psycho thriller game kind of like Heavy Rain and is mind-blowing in terms of graphics. The story is supposed to be spooky of sorts. When it will hit the shelves,is yet unknown though.

I think there is another one called the uncanny valley but i'm not sure if it was running on the PS3 or not. By the way, do you think that quantic dream will be able to cross the uncanny valley with this game just like they said they would. I'm fine with the graphics just as they are now, they're gorgeous , but i'm just wondering if they'll be able to pull it off
xinferio
I really hope so Making a game that will look like that will take serious work and an extreme amount of time, thats probably why we haven't heard anything about the game (other than the odd interview) since the release the tech demo (Real time ) back in 2006. Man I just watched the tech demo again. Everytime I get shivers on how lifelike the girl is, her actions, her body movement, the tears, everything. I bet this'll be a 2009 title We're hyped for this game and we know only the slightest details! F*ck Quantic Dream and their brilliant minds. I just noticed onThe poster for Heavy Rain on Quantic Dream's site some faint writing near the bottom, could be something exciting. I'll get back once if finished figuring out what it says (or, most of it anyway). EDIT: This is extremely difficult. It seems I can only make out the first line and some of the second. "He was recycled For our" Is all I can get =/ the next word looks like patto or something. Edited April 18, 2008 by xinferio

Silent-Hill
I don't have a Playstation 3. Do you think it would be worth it for me to buy it just for this game? If it is as good as i think it will be, then definitely yes besides, you have played indigo prophecy so you could judge by that I forgot to mention that you could also buy Metal Gear Solid 4, it's coming out exclusively on the PS3. Silent-Hill
What kind of game is this suppose to be? Looks pretty intense. We don't know yet. That video was just made to show us what to expect in terms of graphics , animation... That tech video looks good even though it wasn't 100% finished and it took them 90 days to make it on the PS3 from scratch. In terms of gameplay,it should be similar,if not better than indigo prophecy. Hope you got your answer
GTA:IV
I cant wait for Heavy Rain to come out, i loved Fahrenheit and have to admit its one of my fav games on the ps2, the only bad thing i didnt like about Fahrenheit was the story is soo quick, but even though its a short game its worth playing again to unlock the different endings and see how the story pans out from the first time you played it. If you havent played it i suggest you do because its a fantastic game and a 10/10 game i think, i still love the roof top fight scene towards the end of the game. Heavy Rain suppose to come out Fall 2008 right? EDIT: @ Silent-Hill: You do know the tech demo has nothing to do with the actual game and characters and story? i was reading the tech vid wasent even suppose to be released to the public because it was just for the company and the ppl working on the game, i was also reading that Mary Smith (the women in the demo) may not even be in the game but they want to put her some where into the story/game, she may even be one of the main characters in it or not in the story at all, thats what i was reading the other day. EDIT 2: @ YourNeighborhoodKiller: The story/game is going to be a "very dark film noir thriller with mature themes" without any supernatural elements. Last edit i promise, EDIT 3: @ Silent-Hill: I maybe wrong about the tech demo not being made for the public etc etc, because i just double checked and i dont see it anywhere saying it shouldnt of been released, but i am 80% positive i read some where it said that it wasent for the public. If i am wrong then sorry dude, but i am so sure i read that somewhere. Edited April 21, 2008 by GTA:IV

xinferio
Nah, it was meant to be viewed by the public, as it was part of a presentation at E3 in 2006. Actually, I remember reading that it was just a tech demo to be shown to Sony, for progress in terms of graphics. Putting it in E3 was a last minute decision, because Sony wanted to show off the power of the PS3. Heavy Rain suppose to come out Fall 2008 right? I totally agree. Farenheit was a brilliant game, and yeah it was quite quick, but it was fun nevertheless. Heavy Rain has two release dates that I've seen, Fall 2008, or sometime in 2009. Don't bet on it being released this year though. Anyone had a chance to play MGO yet? I still can't get a freakin Konami ID
