OXM Gave GTA 10/10 BUT WHY?

the real question should be, how can anyone rate it lower than 10/10?

 

 

I mean, a free world, near-perfect graphics and movement. u can do whatever u want on this game! i know people who've never even completed the story mode in san andreas cuz they got caught up in driving and doing whatever esle inthe game, well this game is nearly the size of San Andreas, but has 100's, if not 1000's of more things you can do. And for those of you who arent even satisfied with that, rockstar included multiplayer. lol

 

I CANT WAIT! as long as taxes come, ill have it on the 29!

I believe it depends on how they review it. Some places give a score for all the different parts e.g. Graphics, sound, gameplay.

 

And while GTA is amazing it may not score high on some of these things which will bring down the overall score. PSM gave GTA 3 an 8 but i'm pretty sure they still had it in the top 5 games for ps2.

Wow, so are you saying it doesn't deserve it? I think it does from what I saw and I like to think that gaming magazines do not deceive their readers by posting bogus scores for the sake of doing it. I think you are just thinking too much into this. Just wait till yahtzee scores it. Well he doesn't score games he just tells you how much they suck. If he says this game is good then anybody will like it. From what I've seen he has an interest in GTA anyway he mentioned it a few times in his reviews.

it all depends on what 10 means. Does it mean just "excellent" or does it mean that the game is so awesome that no other game will ever compare to it? I don't know. I would think 10 means excellent, 9 - very good, 8 - good, 7 - ok, 6 - crap, 5 - fail. So far as what I have seen, I would say its a 10, but who knows.

I have a feeling that people think that 10 means a perfect game. It doesn't really. It means that they couldn't see it being done any better and if there were flaws then there were small enough to ignore.

This topics is about your thoughts on the reasoning behind why Official Xbox Magazine voted GTA IV 10/10.

 

Yes you might say its an amazing game thats why, but think about it more deeply. I am certain GTA does deserve a high rating but one could consider an alternate reasoning why '10/10' was given. Feel free to share your theory or comment.

 

Theory

 

'I believe' meaning it might not be accurate, that OXM gave GTA IV 10/10 as they have a vested intrest in GTA.

 

Lets first examine the downloadable content only for Xbox users. Now Microsoft in effect gave Rockstar a blank check for this. If OXM were to give GTA a bad rating then it would put Xbox users off the game and therefore, Microsoft would make less of a profit from the downloads.

 

It is not like your standard game where Microsoft have no influence and do not care about publishers sales, remember in this case Microsoft get a chunk of the cake, and an even larger slice if more people buy GTA 'potentially'.

 

Also remember that if they did not give it '10/10' and gave it say '9/10' their competitors Sony may well rate the game higher i.e. '10/10'. Now remember there is always going to be huge debates about what platform GTA IV will, and is better on. If Sony rate it higher then people maybe misleaded and consider GTA IV to be better on the PS3- which it may well be who knows.... Anyway Microsoft have secured the maximum rating, and hopefully a wide audience for the game to try to outdo its competition.

 

Can anybody justify my theory, or provide their own or comment on the above?
