Yes you might say its an amazing game thats why, but think about it more deeply. I am certain GTA does deserve a high rating but one could consider an alternate reasoning why '10/10' was given. Feel free to share your theory or comment. Theory 'I believe' meaning it might not be accurate, that OXM gave GTA IV 10/10 as they have a vested intrest in GTA. Lets first examine the downloadable content only for Xbox users. Now Microsoft in effect gave Rockstar a blank check for this. If OXM were to give GTA a bad rating then it would put Xbox users off the game and therefore, Microsoft would make less of a profit from the downloads. It is not like your standard game where Microsoft have no influence and do not care about publishers sales, remember in this case Microsoft get a chunk of the cake, and an even larger slice if more people buy GTA 'potentially'. Also remember that if they did not give it '10/10' and gave it say '9/10' their competitors Sony may well rate the game higher i.e. '10/10'. Now remember there is always going to be huge debates about what platform GTA IV will, and is better on. If Sony rate it higher then people maybe misleaded and consider GTA IV to be better on the PS3- which it may well be who knows.... Anyway Microsoft have secured the maximum rating, and hopefully a wide audience for the game to try to outdo its competition. Besides, I don't think a 9/10 score or a 10/10 score would matter to the people who (want to) buy the game. It's simple... EVERYONE who likes GTA will get GTAIV and not be influenced by a grade, people who have doubts about buying will get it too when they hear how good it is, people who don't like GTA won't get it (are there any people who don't like GTA?). Now I am not that naive to believe things like this don't happen. But you could make the same argument for Gears of War. An amazing game and Microsoft needed it to sell to boost sales of the 360, as it was a 360 only title They still gave it a 9. I believe most reviewers are gamers and feel an obligation to give honest opinions. You don't think they were searching for something to complain about with this game? He never said GTA IV didn't deserve a 10/10, he said some publications might have alternative reasons for marking it so high. It's probably a lot more common than we realize for games to be given high scores they don't totally deserve. I think we all remember the Gamespot Kane & Lynch fiasco.
