The 555 prefix actually is starting to get used for some things because there is a severe shortage of phone numbers. In other words it's as fake as a fake number can be. I'm kind of disappointed. These days the cool thing for a production company to do is to give a real number to a cell phone at the company and let everything go to voice mail, but tease fans by randomly answering it live.
