The many faces of Niko

After downloading 250+ screen shots of GTA IV to a USB key I played them as a slide show on my console, (makes for a great screen saver). Now I am sure this has been talked about, and I'm sure the common answer is "We will have to play it to know!", however I would like to see what people have to say about the variations in visual quality of Niko's face.

 

 

 

This is the an example of extream difference. If you look through your self you will be able to find that Niko has evolved quite a bit through the development of this game. I would of liked to have made a quick montage of all the faces of Niko, but I lack patience and photoshop.

My question is what are we going to see. Are we going to have beautifully rendered faces, or have the visuals been scaled back to some degree for the game to run smoother.

I think he's gonna look great. Our good friend Mr Houser was talking about how now that the character faces are a much better quality, they feel they can have longer cutscenes since the faces don't look like cardboard anymore. They were proud of Nico's in particular because you can see the emotion in his expression when he does stuff, and it makes him feel infinitely more life-like and easier to relate to.

Hi, the first one is from a early releases screenshot that's why Niko has no facial changes.

 

And yes, during you play Niko's face will change when he shoot, he's hurt,...

With the top image, the brighter sun is probably what's making his face appear less detailed.

 

This screenshot is almost certainly his best to date. He looks very almost real, and definately like a character you can relate to realistically.

Well have to wait and see only two weeks now, but to be honrest i couldnt care how he looks.
