There's too much stuff to concentrate on most of the time to have the additional worry of making sure you're shifting correctly. You like it in real life...but in real life you're not outrunning cops and shooting out the driver's side window trying to stop them from ramming you. That said...they should include manual just to satisfy people who want it. (My bet is most people would switch back to manual after 15 minutes and their first smash em up car chase) And who says there are more automatics in the US...did someone do a study? My first two cars were manual because they are generally cheaper. Most cars don't need manual gears as most cars don't give a greater experience if you're driving a manual...it's just extra sh*t to concentrate on. Generally you see manuals for cheap cars for high school/college students and sports cars once you're raking in the cash and can afford to have a "driving experience". It would make you remember which cars were manual so if you are in a chase and looking for one, you could avoid/pursue it depending on your desire.
