Have they given the cars manual gears yet?

Its about time GTA had Manual Gears in its cars.. is this happening in this installment or is it the same game new graphics.. IMO if its vice city san andreas all over again but flashed up it will be more repetitive crap.

I wouldn't mind there being an option but I am not bothered by the fact it will probably be all automatic. I doubt I would use manual gears in a GTA game.

Nope, there are plenty of manual cars in the US. But usually they aren't the American cars, mostly European cars like VWs and Saabs and the Jap cars like STI's and Evo's come mostly only in manual. Anyway the only true way to drive a car is manual, otherwise you don't bond with the car.

i will say that they will be automatic but life is about choices so an option to change between the two would be a good idea on r* part.

I don't want manual gears, but having a manual car and seeing Nico automatically shifting the stick would be cool, especially if he stalled in front of heavy oncoming traffic.

I don't understand why manual transmissions aren't more prevalent in the US. Even in Australia, they seem to only be in sports/small cars (i.e., much rarer than in Europe). Manual = more challenging, more of a connection to the car, and more fun. Seriously... don't knock it 'til you try it. I bet a lot of people dislike them because they can't immediately "get it", but it's worth learning, really.

come on manual gear boxes would be fun since it would add to the realism to the game specialy in the uk, i would love it in gta if you stalled it at the lights and a taxi is right behind you and the guy jumps out and threatens you like they do in real life ( yes this happened to me back when i passed my driving test one day =) ) taxi's and white van men think they own the road so rules don't apply to them

in all my experience of playing GTA.... i only really spend about 5 mins in each car, you're usually out of car shooting, running or dying!

 

So manual gears would be quite fustrating.. unless if it was for street racing

Since we're on the car subject, I wonder if e-brake+accelerate will make you do a badass burnout off the starting line. It didn't quite work properly in the previous games.

If it were realistic: Yank cars would be autos. Euro and Jap cars would be manual.

 

Many people don't wanna shift their own gears in GTA though, but if Niko gets into a manual car, I wanna see him shifting gears, in the in car view, realistically, depending on the driving situation.

I dont see why they cant make some old cars run on manual, that would be awesome if you were in some chase and jacked a car only to discover that "sh*t I cant drive this " and the cops bust you.

 

Thats such a good idea I'd bet money that there are some cars that are manual.

I have driven manual and automatic cars. The car that I 'bonded' with the most was an automatic, so you guys are wrong. It isn't that American cars are automatic and European cars are manual. In America you can pretty much by whatever car you want in manual or automatic if you can find it. Lots of American trucks and the like can be purchased with a manual transmission.

 

In a game like GTA it would just be a feature that got in the way. How are you going to drive-by? Plus, I never really saw the point in clicking a button to shift up or down, it isn't like we have those new-fangled magnesium paddle shifters or something.

Yeah, let's have another button for the clutch that's sensitised so Niko can stall out before a police chase if we don't press it right. While we're at it, why not have another one for heated seats?
