Social Club pointing to a possible delay?

With the talk last week of EA delaying GTA should they succeed in their takeover bid (which they are meeting on the 17th to approve or reject) is this a pure coincidence that the Rockstar Social Club has now been put back to the 17th or do you think they are doing that 'just in case'...

 

It doesn't bode well.

plus all the marketing has already been done, so its too late to back out. the only thing that EA could do to get more of their evil money is to start charging for new guns and new cars like they do with the rest of their crappy games.

There was a news article on Gamespot (and probably other sites too) that talked about how if EA were to acquire Take Two it would be in their best interests to delay GTA IV until the summer (June-July) to maximize profits.

There was a news article on Gamespot (and probably other sites too) that talked about how if EA were to acquire Take Two it would be in their best interests to delay GTA IV until the summer (June-July) to maximize profits.

If they f*cking delay GTA until the summer, I'll organize a hate posse to destroy everything EA stands for. Then I'll piss all over the ashes.

Don't worry about a delay; we've already seen a review for goodness' sakes. Web launches are often delayed. There is always something that goes wrong or needs to be optimized minutes before the launch.

Nah it doesn't mean anything by the social club getting pushed back. They are going to have a major data load on their systems with everyone signing up so they probably just needed a couple more days to make sure everything will go smoothly.

There are rumors going around that EA is going to offer $32 a share on the 17th because that's when Take Two's board meeting is. If they offer that amount then it's pretty much a done deal...shareholders will not hold back any more if EA offers that much per share. That would be about a week and a half before launch...I don't know all of the legalities of this kind of stuff, but at that point EA would technically own R*, so if they wanted to delay it they technically could...or maybe they couldn't? I'm not sure...

It's to late now for the game to be delayed. If EA buys T2 before launch on the 29th there will be an agreement that EA cannot delay the game. Also, I highly doubt that T2 is that stupid. FYI this is a share holders meeting, and I also heard that Wal Mart wharehouse has alredy recieved their stock of GTA4 game.

Went to Walmart yesterday to pre-order it and the guy pulls it out of a box, and if it wasn't for it not being in the Damn System, i could have gotten it early He didn't look to be the smartest.

This share-holder meeting is a ANNUAL meeting. It happens every year. I also saw that only 5,000 of T2 shares were bought by EA, mind you there are 75.4 Million shares. T2 declined EA's $2 billion offer and EA says that is over pay. Also I read that T2 is considering their offer however this happened AFTER EA offered to buy shares because share holders were bitching that they should accept. It was also noted that one big share holder is suing T2 because of this. Its all drama because EA wants the billions from GTA4. The game will be released either way because its just stupid for T2 to accept that offer when GTA4 release will bring 3x EA's offer. Also, even if EA bought tons of T2 shares, T2 will make sure EA doesn't have more then 49% of the shares and again the game is being released in 2 weeks, its just to late for a delay.

the site said 15th of april u can register blabla and with the ps3 update today (15april) there was nothing new in ps store and the social club didn't go live but,,, they update the PSN on the 17th, now its a wild gues but i thing ps HOME wil be launched cuzz home had that achiefments sh*t in it so.. i think home will hapen what u think???

hey c*nteyes - A few dollars spent on posters isn't going to stop a company delaying a product if they think by doing so it will raise profits.

 

I personally don't think they will delay it, but as someone who works in publishing I can assure you it's entirely feasible and it happens with many products for one reason or another.

Its too close to the release date to start delaying the game launch imo. They have delayed it enogh. Theres reviews out and so much information is revealed, I say April 29th will still be the release date.

As i recall, they delayed Sanandreas pritty close to the release date

Yeah, San Andreas was delayed an extra week only 2 weeks before it came out.
