My brothers Xbox did the exact same thing. I don't see why it matters which conlose you have. P.S. I am waiting for the game that is networked to the Xbox and PS3. I've also slogged it a little with all my Guitar Hero playing. Dead Rising. Gears Of War. It's still alive and kicking. BUT the only reason I'm worried is thanks to Sony. Because San Andreas broke alot of peoples PS2's (the older models of the fat ones). It broke my PS2 only days after SA, I got a replacement slimline PS2... which has recently also started to die... so thanks alot playstation. Now I'm a paranoid sh*t when it comes to buying consoles.
