Crab Tactics
This is in response to many topics which have been generated recently. I am also aware that many Xbox 360 owners will be aware of it, but this is for those who do not know about it, as it works and everyone has to find out somewhere first time. Sony fanboyism isn't welcome here either. There is a temporary fix for any RROD problems. About 6 months ago (just before Halo 3 was coming out) my 360 kicked the bucket after 2 years faithful service. I was pretty shocked and pissed. However, after some looking around I found this. It basically uses (or rather abuses) the ability to reset the computer's chip into thinking nothing is wrong with it by overheating the unit. I can also confirm this has worked; if you don't believe me look it up on youtube, there are loads of these videos! PLEASE NOTE: Although it worked with me, a lot of people do not recommend doing it for extended amounts of time, as it can damage your system. This is to be expected, but it may be considered invalidating the waranty if this happens. Hope this helps! P.S You should however get it sent off to MS; they are usually very good with it, and it will take about 2 weeks...so it's a hard decision now but maybe thats better if you are good at waiting...which you should be by now... mike27
My 360 died the day before MLB 2k8 came out, and I used the towel trick. I don't know if it was just my 360, but it didn't work for any longer than 15 minutes. It would just freeze up right away. I wouldn't count on this working, and if yours is broken right now, I'd say send it in ASAP. Maybe you'll get lucky and get it like 3-4 days after GTA IV's release (even though that's not lucky at all).
WellsMcK
I will sprint back to Costco and they have a no question policy. They just give you a new one.
