I'm a big fan of GTA, I've played all of the GTA games for PS2 (GTA3, VC, SA, LCS) except for VCS. I was just wondering, am I missing out? Is VCS worth buying? Because I was thinking of buying a game but I don't want to buy VCS if it isn't all that great. Let me know. Thanks.

Well its the same ol VC Map plus the same game engine...but whit the new characs and new vehicles and planes...

but if you get it for PSP,You get Multiplayer! biggrin.gif

So what im saying is thats its worth buying for psp...more than ps2

But overall,Its a great game to buy if you like the original VC...expect to not have the same ol Scarface mansion of VC

The traditional side missions of the past games are included, but have been moderately upgraded and enhanced compared to previous titles. A new addition to the game is "Beach Patrol", in which Victor must deal with bikers on the beach by beach buggy (by ramming or shooting to knock them off their bikes) or throwing life preservers to drowning swimmers by boat or by taking a paramedic around to injured people on the beach.

One of the key gameplay elements in Vice City Stories is "empire building." New to the GTA series, it borrows a few ideas from Vice City's "properties" and San Andreas' "gang wars" systems. In order to make money, the player must open and operate various businesses on property taken over from enemy gangs. The businesses include protection racket, loan shark, prostitution, drugs, smuggling or robbery.

For Vice City Stories, the combat system was overhauled to feature more depth than ever before. The targeting mechanism has been tweaked to "intelligently target"; enemies posing a threat or attacking the player will be targeted over pedestrians. The biggest changes concern the hand-to-hand combat system, as players can now perform grappling moves and throws, and stand on top of enemies lying on the ground.

Players are able to bribe policemen or hospital staff when "Wasted" (killed) or "Busted" (arrested) in order to keep weapons that ordinarily would have been lost.

The standard hidden package system returns in the form of 99 red balloons scattered around the city. This is a reference to Nena's 1984 hit "99 Luftballons", which was featured in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

Improvements to the graphics since the release of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories include new animations, faster load times, a longer draw distance, reductions in clumping of pedestrians and vehicles, more complex explosions, and increases in the density of objects, vehicles, and NPCs.

It's good and some missions are great, like From Zero to Hero, and you can fly helicopters, like off Vice City.

Its quite fun, the missions are pretty varied and original. It sometimes seems a little sub par, other times very good. I would defiantly get it if you are a fan of the series. icon14.gificon14.gif

Surely PS2 I think. Only if I had a PS2 I would get this and LCS. Damn I really feeling bad to miss out these two.

And let's add that Vic can swim.

Nice. The PS2 version has a few extra side missions added and the garage glitch is not in the PS2 version which is good.

Me, myself am almost solving my own problems about getting a PS2. I found a quite cheap one with GTA LCS in it and yeah, I only want it for LCS and VCS. Then after got that PS2, it's available for sell once I've done the Stories! Good business plan.

THEN I'll reserve the Xbox360 once I think about working at summer.

I'm going to get VCS for PS2, since that's all I have lol. I don't have a PSP, anyway. Besides, I'd rather stick to my PS2. icon14.gif

@vicenzo312: Thanks man. I'll look it up. smile.gif

I don't think the story is as good as Vice City, but it does bring features like empire building, swimming etc that wasn't in Vice City.

It may not be the best, but it's still a good game.

Yeah the story wasn't too interesting but the features is good though. I like this game because of the multiplayer. (PSP Version)

OK, thanks anyone who helps me out, I've recently found a used cheap PS2, which is 50/60$ and available until 20:30 by this time. Can y'all tell me whether it's worth buying only for LCS and VCS? And it's only for a short period I have the chance of help, so I wanna know is it really really worth it or should I give it a miss and plan for it some other day in life?

Hope you enjoy it, it's realy fun. This was actualy my first GTA on the PS2 and I played it for a loooong time before getting any other GTA. Some very good features include: You can now swim, in VICE CITY! biggrin.gif

A new game engine since R* dropped RenderWare and used a new one to port the game on the PSP...

It has something San Andreas had also, for example: Like I said before - swimming and quadbikes, recruiting gang members...

There is alot more new things but I'll let you find out for yourself smile.gif

Damn it, I was today out for 5 hours around stores and didn't find a single LCS or VCS, only ONE that was quite expensive and not worth.

Is it safe to buy from amazon ?

I bought GTA III from Amazon and everything was alright so it shouldn't be a problem.

Yeah, I bought GTA3, Vice City, San Andreas, (SA twice, because I lost my discs once), and everything was ok. wink.gif

More so than from Ebay.

I still haven't finished it (on PSP)..the storyline got very tiresome, so only if it's cheap. And amazon have been almost faultless for me.

I've ordered games and films off gameplay.com and play.com before with no problems. With regard to the game itself, i'm currently playing it and it is quite entertaining, but don't expect it to be in the same league as San Andreas. It's a great game to have on the PSP and the empire mode and new vehicles like quadbikes and hovver craft differentiate it from Vice City. If you can get it cheap on the PSP, i would recommend it.

Yes you are missing out if you do not have this game. It is good for a psp game, I would buy it used if you cant afford a new game.

Quite a few GTAs are still on the shelves here (check Big W for instance), sure you can't find it anywhere? Bear in mind the prices listed might be wrong - LCS (PSP ver), and San Andreas (PC ver) both cost double the price of every other game according to that! Just go into your local EB games, Wal-Mart or whatever you have in your area, you're bound to find it somewhere. Provided you don't buy it from Australia it shouldn't be too expensive. Australia, where you can buy a second hand Nintendo 64 for $50, with no box, one half dead controller and no games. wink.gif

Edit: Fixed url typo, oops...

I'd say they are certainly worth it.

Not as strong as SA of course but two really good games.

As for price the ps2 version was only $20 upon release here in America..but I can't speak for anywhere else.
