OXM and PSM3 Console Differences

Recommended Posts

from OXM's recent review screenshot from the Xbox 360 version, and the PSM3's preview PS3 screenshot, it is clear that IGN and GamesRadar were correct in saying that the Xbox 360 version is a lot brighter than the PS3 version, with the PS3 version having "warmer colour palette". Which one is better? You decide.

Sorry dude, this comparison lacks intelligence.

The PSM screenshot is digital, while the OXM one is scanned.

Problem solved.

I hardly think comparing a screenshot with a scanned image is representative of what they look like when compared.

Obviously, the scan isn't going to look anything like the screenshot.

Signatures are dumb anyway.

Naturally, the PS3 shot looks better. But like the other poster said, the 360 shot is scanned from a magazine. A magazine that cannot show all of the colors that a digital picture can show.

lol mate, agreed its scanned but even when scanned it doesnt brighten colours like that up to that extent

the previewers said that the 360 version is brighter and has less anti-aliasing, who cares its only minor differences, most games on the 360 are brighter than the ps3 version anyway, don't get hard about it it's a minor thing.

i would laugh my head off if xbox owners get gta IV and they got just these xbox graphics...They would be so pissed of ps3 owners

this is going to be argued about for ever. i dont care which one is better, im going to buy the PS3 version because that is what i own, even if all the colors are washed out it's still the best game on PS3.

If the makes me a "Fanboy" i really dont care

Hmm even though one is scanned and the other is digital i think if both were digital the PS3 version would still come out on top. Normally i wouldn't say this but due to IGN saying the PS3 version is smoother round the edges and has warmer colours and the guy who reviewed it on cvg or what ever it was said the same thing i wouldn't be suprised. And IGN did say the 360 version was brighter and had more vibrant colours so this seems to fit the bill. However no one can be really sure whether or not this is taken off different consoles. So on that basis id take it with a grain of salt.

There's no chance in Hell that the Xbox version is THAT much brighter.

This is f^cking priceless.

One digital screenshot, the other a scanned image with a sh^t load of camera flash. They're not even at the same time of day OR with the same features in each shot. lol.gif

from that CGreviews.com Cam Garish Review

"The 360 [version] is bright. Boy is it bright."

everything all the previews saying its brighter, less anti-aliasing and what this reviewer said fits the bill perfectly.

lol otherway round man

360 - vibrant bright colours, less anti-aliasing

PS3 - warmer realistic colours, more anti-aliasing

thats all we know.

i mean theres always a difference between platforms, unless they're both ports, so I geuss we can only wait and see.

No they said the 360 version will be brighter and have more vibrant colours whilst the PS3 version will have a warmer feel to it and if you look at the screenshots (YES I KNOW ONE IS SCANNED) the PS3 versions colours are more realistic while 360's is more vibrant. An example of this is look at the peoples shirt where niko is aiming.

Effy in Chains

Not a fair comparison. The PS3 mag one is a high quality digital shot, like how the game will really look, but the Xbox 360 mag one is a low quality scan with lots of flash. Besides the settings on the TV's could have been different aswell. Plus each picture shows a different time of day.

The graphical difference isn't going to that big I don't think. I trust Rockstar when they assure us both versions will be the same, they aren't like most developers who tend to develop games on the XBOX 360 and badly port it over to the Playstation 3. Rockstar have developed both separately from the ground up which is why the Playstation 3 build was quite behind before and it is one of the main reasons why they had to delay Grand Theft Auto IV in the first place.

Plus Rockstar know that Microsoft and Sony want Grand Theft Auto IV to run as flawless as possible on the Playstation 3 and XBOX 360. There is a lot riding on the game's success for both companies. Grand Theft Auto IV is going to sell consoles for Sony and Microsoft as well there is no doubt about it.
