Burner
While digging through old backups, I fould the original reference pictures I used to make this: 1963 Corvette. Made in 2003. I hadn't made this car yet when that backup was made. Heh. So I took this old model, upped the polycount, and using the old reference pictures, made this: 1965 Corvette Convertable. I don't know why I used to save interior pics, I never made interiors back then. Must have been for the dashboard view Midtown Mandess used for the internal cam. I was trying to finish this in one day, but ran out of time. Many areas I had to guess on because I lacked good shots of that area. Doorjambs, engine bay, and parts of the interior are all guesswork. The door panels are missing the details(due to lack of reference pics of this area), the headlights need to be made to flip up, then textures need to be made. The engine is modified from my 1970 Chevelle engine. Wheels are 2448 polys each, and the model is 19897 so far. This will need someone to finish off ingame like all my other cars, anyone wanna sign up? Also, since the top is an extra, and will appear ingame with and without the top, should the door windows be modeled up, like on the stallion(which looks funny when roof is off) or left off completely(which looks funy with top in place)? What you guys think? edit: Need to change to [WIP][sCR]. Fergot. Edited April 14, 2008 by Burner

MindF*ck
WOW Nice job Burner! ... once again!! You're modeling faster than any one of us can make a proper convert! Speaking of converting, I see a big problem with making the top as an extra, since it has such a big window. I've encountered the problem, that if an extra has transparancy, you see nothing that's below, so in that case, one would see right through the interior onto the ground. It's a annoying bug and has to do with how SA handles alphas ... a pain in the a** everytime you have to deal with it And you know, I'm always willing to convert your stuff, but first I have to finish your other work which takes longer than expected Keep it up, MF

flashg
And you know, I'm always willing to convert your stuff, but first I have to finish your other work which takes longer than expected Heh same here, darn windows still are giving issues Anyways, looks lovely as always. I don't know how you manage to model so fast. Do you sleep at all? As for the reference images check eBay Motors. I always manage to find lots of good refpics from there. Sometimes I even collect pics for fun lul
Burner
Hell, I thought it was taking too long.. I started yesterday morning and this was the result last night around 9. Shoulda been able to get it done IMO considering all I had to do was smooth out my older model, and add the new parts. The wheels, roof, and interior are the only new parts. Yeah, I know about ebay. I love ebay for reference pictures. I don't have internet at the house though, and all I had yesterday when I decided to model this was the reference pics from an old backup. I was gonna try to finish the car using just those, but I had to get some door pics today. How does the default stallion handle the convertable top as an extra without tranparency issues? Sleep? Whats that? Oh, yeah, now I remember... I do that at work.
JasonThummel
Whoa, I didnt see this coming... I thought that I was clicking on myster92's corvette thread. This should be a good Windsor replacement. I like those wheels for some reason, did you model those spokes? Show us a closeup.

Burner
Done. 30,534 polys with wheels. This is the second time I've made something from the original 63 Corvette model, the first time being the Big Time Muscle version. I like this one better I swiped the license plate texture since it's gonna be replaced anyway. Bet you can't guess where I got it. I love the color of this car. Most of the time I can't get the exact shade I have in my head in photoshop, but this time I got exactly what I was going for, if not better. Yeah, I actually put alot of thought into the exact hue of my paint jobs, I dont just randomly move sliders Jason: Yup, fully modeled. http://www.tjbp.net/upload/65ccv6.jpg <-- This was supposed to be up there, but I didn't resize my thumbnail, heh. Too late now.. nabo45: Absolutlely. I wouldn't have modeled the door jambs and crap otherwise

MindF*ck
well ... what can I say ... perfect ... just perfect!! *MF hurries and finishes your other stuff in hope to get the Vette aswel* How does the default stallion handle the convertable top as an extra without tranparency issues? Sure it's possible to work around that bug, but it's a pain, as almost all alpha-stuff is in SA!
schaefft
Whoa, I didnt see this coming... I thought that I was clicking on myster92's corvette thread. hahaha, the same here, just noticed the thread This Corvette looks terrefic, just like all of your cars Great work again. The car reminds me of Conair
MindF*ck
Hey, I've just been looking at these two pictures: I'm wondering, would it be possible to make that coupe roof from the first picture as an extra for the vette from the second picture? In essence, this lovely boattail is just set upon the back of the car and since you didn't make any trunk, you could just pin it there as an extra that way we could have all three versions ingame, would be nice! JasonThummel
I am quite impressed, the modeling is immaculate and so is the texture. Maybe dirty the exhaust tip slightly to make it looks driven. The colour is a very nice choice. are you planning any special paintjobs - Two Tone
Burner
Mindf*ck: I never woulda thought of that. It woudln't be 100% accurate since it wont blend into the body like the real car being an extra, but it would be a nice bonus. Of course it too would have to be rasied in polycount. Jason: I wasn't planning a two tone for this one. I had already done that for the original vette and I wanted to diferentiate this one as much as possible from the original. Plus, since this version isn't the 427, it woudln't have the hood scoop or the factory racing stripes(in real life). And without the stripes, it looks more elegant imo, instead of all muscle car-y. jogijxxx: Well, I wasn't planning on releasing that version, but I think someone else has offered to bring it up to SA standards and release it. More pics BTW http://www.tjbp.net/upload/63ccv6.jpg http://www.tjbp.net/upload/63ccv7.jpg http://www.tjbp.net/upload/63ccv8.jpg http://www.tjbp.net/upload/63ccv9.jpg Some different possible ingame colors: The last one has the wheels from my newest car I just started. Yeh, I see how that wouldn't be 100% accurate, but I still think it would be a very nice addition, since isn't completely wrong either. You could put even more variety into it when you make two different hardtop boattails, one with single window and one with the split window that way 4 versions of the vette would drive around!
