tw!tch
dear god, i earlier uninstalled sa mp from computer to put it on a back-up copy of san andreas instead. Now when i launch a server samp, it starts the game like normal. I have uninstalled & reinstalled serveral times, and tried several different backups of san andreas. Any suggestions? EDIT: it seems to have a file somewhere else that remebers my playername (this is for every version) if any knows where this file is, it might be the answer to my problem. GTArv
If you've got v2 of the game, make sure that you've downgraded it. EDIT : I think that the file you're looking for is USERDATA.DAT, present in the folder where you installed SA:MP. Make sure that you've installed SA:MP in the correct location. tw!tch
Reinstall SA:MP in the new location of the game. lol i have done that 3 times now. There must be a universal file, because i just did a little test. In one installation of samp, i changed the player name, then deleted that installation. Then i open up a different install of samp, and the changed name is there.
GTArv
Uninstall, don't just delete. SA:MP's got registry entries, they need be removed. Uninstall, and then re-install.

Uninstall, and then re-install. thats what ive done. so now were going to the next extreme! A complete uninstall & re-install of San Andreas! I figured i needed to do it soon, and better to do it sooner then later, in case of f*ck ups closer to the 28th (i aint missing that gathering). But still if any one knows where that one file is, feel free to tell me, cause things might still be f*cked up when im finished the re-install
GTArv
If you're very desperate, open up the registry editor (Start > Run > regedit). Search for "gta_sa_exe". You'll end up in the location where the SA:MP keys are stored. Edit the "gta_sa_exe" entry. Set the value to the folder where SA is installed. I wouldn't recommend editing registry keys though, it might mess up things.
