doomdiver_16
I'm playing San Andreas (version 1.0) on a PC that should be more than capable of running it with no lag yet I'm still experiencing terrible frame rates. My specs are: Pentium 4 3.5GHz processor overclocked to 4GHz 1.5GB of DDR RAM Windows XP home service pack 2 Nvidia 6600GT 128MB I have done everything I can to try and speed it up. I have run spybot, run C-Cleaner, removed Norton internet security and replaced it with AVG (Norton is very RAM hungry), Removed all background programs. I even did a full system restore at one point which didn't help... Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help. Vinnie
Right click the Start bar and then click Task Manager. Click proccesses and click Memory so it shows highest first, Just to see if anything is taking all of your memory up. Also How many processes show up? doomdiver_16
Running in compatibility mode for 98/ME helped the first time I went back on with lag reduced to a playable level (still weren't great) but its seems to be back to how it was before now. I have also noticed the longer my computer is left on the slower it gets. Could it be an overheating problem? As for processes 43 are running when I play the game (not including San Andreas) of those the most hungry ones I can see that I would be able to remove without crashing are TeaTimer.exe and svchost.exe (not sure what either of those are are). Thanks for the help so far guys.
Vinnie
TeaTimer.exe is Spybot Search & Destroy system protection. svchost.exe is a Windows process and should not be closed.
adstone1237
This is simple. Have you even tried to pause the game, go to options>display settings>advanced and reduce the resolution or try to turn off anti-aliasing? I had some serious lag myself but then I just fiddled around with these settings untill I found something that worked. Try it and see. It just runs pretty much the same even when I do that... And with the specs of my computer as they are I should be able to run it with decent settings... doomdiver_16
Thanks everyone for your help. I discovered the problem was overheating (which is quite surprising considering the amount of air space in such a large case and number of fans in there). I took the side off of the computer while playing and it is now running perfectly fine.

Girish
what is lagging i dont know what is this problem In computing, lag is a symptom where result of an action appears later than expected. If you feel your gameplay is slow and choppy, then you have lag. The extent of lag depends on your system configuration.
