I run the game in windows xp and my problem is that the vehicles seem to be set to automatically break. As soon as I stop pressing the gas/forward button the breaks kick in and the vehicles stop almost immediately. And when I try to back up they're stuck, and it takes like 10 seconds before they actually get anywhere. Until then I do see that the button has been registered by the game, because the backing lights are on, but they just stand still, or rather they move at incredibly slow pace. I have the latest patch installed, and all the latest drivers for my graphics card (ASUS 8800GTS 640Mb). There could've been some issues with the mouse drivers (Logitech setpoint 424), but I've turned them off, so I don't see how. I'm mentioning this because sometimes the mouse movements won't work in GTA San Andreas, so maybe something similar, since the two games use the same engine, is afoot here as well.
