In regards to the Official News & Info section.

My suggestion is in regards to the Official News forum in the IV section. Watching the IVum every day, you get to see the number of threads being made and kept open, compared to the number of threads being posted and locked.

 

In my opinion this can be easily fixed, by making the new threads in just the "Official News" forum, be on Moderated. Set it up so that the new threads being posted in the Official News section need to be approved by staff.

 

This is easily switched on via the admincp, which any admin would know.

Sounds like a good idea.

 

However, there won't always be an admin online, and when there is, they're probably occupied with something else. By then, the user would see that their topic hadn't been approved, and then decide to post it in the main section... where it would just be moved to the Official News section anyway.

 

That's just one way I see it. But to be honest I think once IV releases the Official News section will be deleted or shortly after anyway and probably split into different sections (ie, XB360 Chat, PS3 Chat, Gameplay, Cheats).

 

The reason it will probably be taken down is because once it does release, no-one is really going to care about "news" as such (and the news posted in there is mainly magazine scans and what not). There isn't a news section for any of the other GTA's so I just assumed it will be the same for GTA IV.

Your idea isen't that bad, it would defenently controle the ammount of spam that goes into that GTA IV forum but as suggested before that forum will be split up soon which will hopefully split up posts and controle the amount of spam in the GTA IV forum.
