FleetAdmiral
wtf are you complaining about exactly? Being charged for music without knowing/Be abling to do it for free when i can in other games. if I am reading this correctly he's complaining that you have to pay to listen to music in game you aren't being charged to listen to the music, and you obviously know about it since you're posting in here XD you're being charged to download the music to your computer. a perfectly respectable buisness practice. and it's DRM free so you can put it on ANY music player. MY GOD YOU'RE AN IDIOT. Follow me on this. I own cd's. I want to put the music on the cd's i already paid for in the game. I can't do that Unless I pay for the song's again. Jesus christ..It's not that hard to understand they're ripping you off. They should've allowed us to do stuff like this "The Xbox 360's hard drive is utilized to allow custom music to be used in the game as music." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WWE_SmackDown...ion_differences Call me an Idiot XD let me clear something up for you. YOU CAN'T PUT YOUR OWN MUSIC IN THE GAME, NOT EVEN BY PAYING FOR IT. THE SERVICE YOU PAY FOR IS TO DOWNLOAD SONGS FROM THE GAME INTO YOUR COMPUTER. jesus what a noob. can't even type out a normal sentence and then calls someone an idiot for trying to translate what he's saying, and then, on top of that, is talking about something completely retarded, which is wrong in the first place. zip your trap buddt, or GTFO. I must say that was the funniest thing I've ever read. ALL because BadMeetsEvil is right. Idontrember is a retard. #1 you do not pay to put music on your 360HD #2 it has yet to be confirmed whether or not you can play your personal music in game (from 360HD or iPod sources) as one can in other games using the xbox360 Dashboard #3 the R*/Amazon/Social Club deal is that you can download to a computer the songs that you hear from the game disc (which by the way is revolutionary and I highly support the idea of such. Everyone has had times where they heard a song in real life and wished they could download on the spot or mark for downloading. GTA4 will have this feature.) #4 from what was said, Social Club e-mails you the link to purchase the song from Amazon. This does NOT mean you MUST download it from that source, but does accurately tell you what the song/artist/album is. I personally would go through other means of procuring such songs that interest me from the game. #5 This is NOT a rip-off or scam kind of thing that EA does with all their micro-transactions. You do NOT get a game with ZERO (0) music on it, it's crammed full of it. This is just a way to get it off of the game disc and onto your computer/iPod/MP3 Player BadMeetsEvil, you are indeed well informed and are correct from what I read. Idontrember, RESEARCH YOUR INFORMATION BETTER BEFORE OPENING YOUR MOUTH AND LOOKING STUPID INFRONT OF EVERYONE (caps used to make it clear to him)

JamesEarlCash
You could just buy a dubbing lead and record directly from your tv in fantastic quality. You shouldn't, but I'm just stating the obvious. You could also find out what the track is called using ZIT and buy it cheaper somewhere else. fatcity
Did that article say $2 a song for an MP3 from Amazon? Usually their MP3s are 99 cents. Makes me wonder if the $2 is setup through this Rockstar/GTA/ZIT service, whereas if you just get the name of the track and the artist, and just do a regular search for the MP3, it will be 99 cents. Also, apart from any Warez or File sharing program (limewire), you can run a line out from your stereo, into your computer and record the audio output. Leave the game running on pause with the radio going, let it run for about 80 min. on a single radio station. That will get you all the tracks on that station, the commercials, and the DJ banter. Then use a sound editing program to cut down the 80 min. into separate tracks. That way, you can edit them how you like, and also be able to get songs they won't put on the soundtrack. No worrying about figuring out how to hack the disc, etc.

Sorry to be a dick, but I'd really like to see the source. I really enjoy customized soundtracks, and that explanation from Houser seems pretty flimsy, considering we're talking about a freeform game here. I fully intend to listen to the in-game tracks, but sometimes I'd like to hear my own music, and the philosophy of protecting me from my own choices seems to be antithetical to the entire concept of GTA. Kelvinellenton
I'll definetly use that service so I can find the song from the game and then hear on the SE cd and if it isn't on the cd then download it
EntropicLqd
EDIT: I know this will probably start a huge arguement but............ downloading music has been proved LEGAL by several groups because copyright essentially is openly intending to strip you of your rights weather you actually have them or not. I'm sorry, but that's complete and utter twaddle. Downloading songs off the Internet that you haven't paid for, and don't own is theft. It's copyright infringement in its most basic form. DRM is arguably designed to remove certain "rights" you would have under "fair use" laws. However, "fair use" only applies if you paid for it in the first place. All of the songs from the game are licensed to the game. If you read the license, you will see that splitting the sound-track out of the game for your own use on your favourite MP3 player will be a breach of the terms and conditions of the game. Now, I'm as much in favour as anyone of a complete shake-up of the music industry as anyone. But lets not pretend that theft isn't theft. If you like someone's music and want to listen to the song wherever you are then you should pay for it. I suspect that GTA-IV will contain a lot of tracks from artists that are not mainstream. They are not going to be massive bands; and tbh if you like their music they deserve your support. Being able to easily identify the artist and track in-game simply is a genius feature from R*. I suspect their "cut" was reduced licensing costs to be able to include the music in the game in the first place. I don't know whether I'll use the feature or not. If I hear something I like I may well do. It certainly saves having a pen and paper handy, and also allows them a bit more freedom when putting the radio stations together. SerenUnderdog
"Following a partnership between Rockstar Games and Amazon.com, players will be able to purchase real world MP3s through GTA IV's in-game mobile phone. If the player hears a song they like on the radio, they will be able to 'mark' the song by dialling ZIT-555-0100 on Niko's phone. They will then receive a text message providing the name of the song and the artist. If the user is registered on Rockstar's 'Social Club' website, they will also receive a real world email with a link to an Amazon.com playlist where all of the player's marked songs will be listed and available to purchase for roughly $2 each. Initially, this service will only be available in the US." Some of you maybe saying it's cool. But I think it's bullsh*t that they would put this in the game and confirm it before confirming/Not putting in the option to upload music off your hardrive like you can do in games like Svr 08 and Mlb 08 the show. (Here's a link http://videogames.yahoo.com/events/grand-t...-model/1199430) you don't get it do you? it's just a way to purchase the tunes that ARE ingame, not to purchase new tunes to PUT ingame eventually it will result in people buyijg the 3 or 4 tunes they want on their MP3 instead of getting them of a P2P because they don't want to put $14 on the full album in retailshop... chitoryu12
wtf are you complaining about exactly? Being charged for music without knowing/Be abling to do it for free when i can in other games. You're not charged without your knowledge. You know full well that the music costs money. Besides, it's not like finding free Mp3s of songs is hard. Fox News and CNN are laughable when they say things like that come from "underground sites" or "the dark corners of the Internet", when a simple Google search will bring up just about anything you want.
