Tenk
I hear rumors that the first DLC will hit around the same time as saints row 2, so I probably won't pick it up till after the second DLC is gone and done
CrazyJim
When I first got saints row I thought it was alright, but after i finished the story and I started to free roam it got old very fast. There is literally nothing to do. I may buy SR 2 down the line after it comes out, but im not excited on throwing $60 on it. So I will probally wait until it gets down to $30 like the first one. GTAIVEver
I look forward to renting 'aints row 2. Then again, it's like Hitman...why order a hit from a crackhead when you already have Agent 47's phone number? Why eat oaties when you have a box of Rice Crispies? Why ask Ashlee Simpson out while T*ts McGee (Jessica Simpson) is upstairs flossing? We are two weeks away from the Ferrari of sandbox gaming and we're talking about minivans. Gregatron
90% of the white characters in Saints Row where wiggas, they should of made the mafia it would of been more better. And no I'm not racist at all, my cousins friend is white. You are by far my favorite new poster. This is pure gold. Is that you Brish?
cochese
sh*t i got saints row and have been playing GTA since the GTA2 days, and personally i really liked Saints Row. Was it was good as any of the GTAs? not really, but it still was really fun for me and helped with waiting for GTA IV to come out. I really liked how customizable everything was, from the cars to your clothes, you can do just about everything with that. I wish in GTA IV you could put rims and crap on your car, just becuase i think it makes the car more your style than just the same as everything when your driving a customized one. Sure the story and crap was just cheesey in SR, but the game was still fun. the one thing that really sucked about SR was how the cars handled. They hardly felt real and felt floaty, they really really nailed the dirving physics in GTA, and im sure GTA4's physics will be just outstanding in every aspect, which is more than a head and shoulders on SR, so i hope they fix that some in SR2. I will buy SR2 the day it comes out most likely, will it be as good as GTA 4? 99% probabability that it will not, but it will still be fun nonetheless. DWASGTA
I think GTAIV appeals to a more maturing audience. Not by age or attitude or any of that, but as followers of the GTA franchise itself. Saints Row seems like more of a pick up and play model with a less developed story to follow. People who play GTA games expect a strong story that continues to pull them in. Saints Row provides quick pick up for everyone with a more arcade like feel to it. Not to say that GTA doesn't accomplish that fun, fast paced pick up and play action. I'll probably play Saints Row 2 as more of a social game. The co-op will be fun to check out and the customization is always kind of fun too. But GTA delivers that strong single player experience, and now that R* has implemented multiplayer in their game, all the better.

I felt like the only thing that SR was good for was blowing sh!t about around the city, but it never really immersed me into the game/story. GTA IV. Darrel
Obviously Gta IV. Answer this question. Do saints row fanboys honestly think its better than the Gta series, or do they just say sh*t to wind people up? If they do thinks its better they're complete utter idiots. CarpetDweller
Just so you're aware, someone seems to make this topic at least once every week. But I've never answered before so here goes: YES. I'll get it. I do consider myself a GTA fan, but that certainly doesn't stop me also buying similar games. I'm actually glad they have some competition. With any luck we'll get 2 great games, but at this stage - no-one knows. They seem to now be heading in different directions anyway. SR is going the bigger is better route of more space, motorbikes, planes and explosions , while GTA is toning things down to a more story-driven immersive game. The biggest problem I had with Saint's Row was just how close it seems to be trying to copy San Andreas. At this it almost always comes off as a pale immitation. It's true that the multiplayer and navigation system were great additions to the GTA-style game. The wardrobe system is much more convenient to use in SR than SA. But they seem to lose out on the soul and the humour that lies behind GTA. Example: A Fast Food restaurant in GTA is called Burger Shot. This can be seen as a reference to the pornagraphic term for a woman in a postiiton that shows her genitals, but it also works as a similar sounding name to "Burger King". It almost sounds as if it could exist. In Saint's Row the fast food restaurant seems to be based on Wendy's and is called "Freckle Bitches". There doesn't seem to be any clever pun behind it. It's just what it is. I'd say that at its worst GTA is "schoolboy humour". At its best Sain't Row is "Fratboy Humour". The main problem with Saint's Row is that GTA came before it. If that hadn't happened more people would respect it. Unfortuanately for Saint's Row (1) it lies in the Shadow of the previous GTAs and was really only saved by being the 1st "next gen gta". To be honest I'd say that out of all the similar games Saint's Row fits about half way between True Crime:SoNY and San Andreas in terms of the experience and quality. I bought a 2nd hand SR back in November. It took me almost until March before I could seriously play it for more than 10 minutes. It was just too similar, but NOT GTA. SR is like what people tell you GTA is. It's the game that appears in the spoofs of GTA. They forget the essense of GTA and just think it's all about gangs, guns and violence. Then towards the end of March I started to play it again. I played through a few missions and something weird began to happen. I started to enjoy it. I was having fun. I wanted to replay missions after I'd failed them. When I passed them I wanted to move onto the next. I'd accepted it on its own terms. No longer did I see it as "NOT GTA". Now it was simply "SAINTS ROW". In other words, if you can get past the comparison, then Saint's Row (1) is a pretty good game. Chances are the makers have learnt from their first try and will now take their own path. Saint's Row 2 could be great. SOme current speculation seems to think SR2 will be released at the same time as the first GTA DLC. I might go for the GTA one first, but I'll certainly be checking out SR2 at some point. Its just a cheap pile of crap that desperately wants to be GTA but only manages to be yet another sh*tty washed out GTA clone like True Crime, Driv3r and The Getaway.
