Solved Tag For Solved Troubleshooting Posts

Would it be possible to implement a Solved Tag for Troubleshooting topics which have been solved in the Troubleshooting subforums? It will obviously be the users responsibility to mark their own topics as Solved.

However it could leave this in the Topic Title when browsing the Forums [solved] (Troubleshooting Topic Name). I Think it will save time when trying to see if someone still needs help especially if the thread is quite a few pages long.

It could also stop the possibility of the OP's wanting their topics locked when they have their answer, all they will have to do is click edit and mark their topic as solved.

I like the idea but it would be hard to make it work. People don’t understand why they should include their system requirements when posting a troubleshooting problem. If they don’t understand why they should do that I don’t see how they are gonna understand the point of this.

The Unvirginiser

That's a pretty good idea

Get on that Justin icon14.gif

The idea sounds good on paper, but implementation will mean allowing members to edit the topic title. This is something the staff has decided to avoid.

If the OP wants to let everyone know that his problem has been solved, why can't he just edit the first post and put in bold letters something like [PROBLEM SOLVED]. That should serve the purpose.

Thats what I was trying to get at in my post.

The idea of getting users to edit their posts after the problem is solved is a good one. It would deffentley be usfull however people have a hard time just including their system requirements. How are they gonna manage with this now.

There are scripts which can do this (Though I've only tried it and seen it in action on vbulletin) where the user simply selects topic options and clicks mark topic as solved and it does it automatically. There must be a similar script for Invision Power Board which does the same.

Yeah, I think it's a great idea, that could work in a lot of other places as well.

As long as people are aware of it because they always read the pinned posting requirements first don't they sneaky2.gif /sarcasm.
