I still need to call my local Gamestop and inquire about how the midnight release is going to work, since I haven't been to one. Assuming I do attend the midnight launch... there are actually two possible scenarios:

 

1) I stay home. I set up my 22" computer monitor with my 360 on so that I can pop the game in the tray as soon as I go home. I play for an hour, maybe two. Once I see the R* logo I'll probably lose it. Will skip the opening credits but go dead silent during the first cutscene. I'll hesitantly turn my 360 off, then get up in about 4-5.5 hours and get ready to go to school. Will go to school from 8-12, drive home like a madman (or take the game with me and play at my friends) and then play it until my birthday dinner. In between, I'm sure I'll have to answer phone calls and reply to Facebook messages, thanking everyone for their generosity.

 

2) I either decide to go to my local store's midnight launch or go to my friend's store midnight launch. I pick up the game and head to his place, get there and set up my Xbox as if the world is about to explode. I play probably another hour or so longer because he lives a lot closer to school, and I don't have to worry about getting up 1 1/2 hours in advance. We probably carpool, and I try to leave my second class early to get back to his place only to wait anxiously for him and start cursing his name. I play it way tooooo long and keep ignoring phone calls from my house as to where the f*ck I am.

 

Trust me, I've been waiting for this day since the announcement trailer. I remember pre-ordering the game back in March of last year, depositing the full $65. It sucks that I have school so early the day of, but I definitely will be Looking for that Special Someone all week.

Get up at 8, go down to the shop at 9, pick up my pre-order, and then come home, park my ass on the lounge, and then play GTA IV all day. I probably wont even look at the special edtion stuff to start off with, because I'll be hanging to play the the game.

 

I'm going to pay it off in full next Tuesday.

Most likely scenario for Tuesday April 29th:

 

Get up @ 5:30am

Get to work at 6am

Take 1 hour lunch break @ 9 or 10am

Go to blockbuster and pick up GTA:IV(PS3) that I pre ordered

*Go home and drop off game*

Eat lunch

Go back to work

Get home around 3:10pm

Play GTA the rest of the day/evening

Lastly go online and check out everyone's review of the game before heading to bed

 

 

* = If I don't stop by the apartment, I'll just keep the game in the car trunk until after work.

I'm heading to the midnight opening at GameStop, picking up the game and before I get home stop at McDonald's to molest the dollar menu like R. Kelly with a minor.

Get up9:00am get dressed go to my local game store which is GAME, be first in line pick up my both SPcial editions for Xbox 360 and a copy for PS3, and the guide. say good bye to my friends( the staff at GAME) who just gave me a spcial price ^^.´

 

Runs home, catch my breat and realize Im home with GTA Iv in my hands/bag

 

Edit: I just remeberd ^^, My 29th is your 30th so I can play the game while your wating for it , I promis I wont make any spoiler topcis or nothing like that.

Any ways back on topic:

 

Wake up at 6:30 go to school,sleep through all 4 periods except for lunch then after school get off the buss at 2:30 walk to gamestop with my friend pick the game up walk all the way home and play some gears of war until he leaves(7:00 most days) so that i can play gta iv alone without shareing

omg 420 is the only thing keeping me sane, its the thing i choose to look forward to instead of gta4 for now,

im so excited for it, its only less than a week away!!!!!

Ill be getting up at 9am (the postman doesnt bother coming here till 3pm) nipping to tesco for a 24 pack of lagers Hot wings and kettle chips. Chilling the beers and waiting for my copy to arrive. Then ill be in my room untill the food n drink runs out and ill place my online order for more.

Well I have quit my job for 3 months to play this game

 

im gonna sleep from 3pm on the 28th untill 10pm then go to midnight launch pick up a copy

have a nice big spliff on the way home get in about 12:15am and play GTAIV untill i can't see anymore

 

2 days earlier i'l be picking up my 50" Plasma Pioneer screen and boss surround kit just for GTA

im gonna try 2 sleep till 5pm on the 28th (so i can stay up and play even later on the 29th) then have my gf drive me to the mall gamestop at 7pm and stalk and harass gamestop employees to give me my pre-order ultra early. if not my gf and i will try to pick up some more hot chicks in the mall till midnight

read the manual while receiving head on the "ride" home 7:30 or 12:25 smoke mad cigs and blow smoke directly into the 360 vents while playing GTAIV untill i nut on my tv or my eyes bleed for sleep. or both in that order

i have to work the day it comes out and dont get off til 8am on the following day(30th)...so when i get home at about 845am i will move the PS3 from my 27" flat screen up to the 50" sony bravia dlp...get it all set up and ready to go...go to best buy which opens at 10am get the game which i have already pre-ordered...then speed home and put the game in with a nice dip(chewing tobacco) in and play for hours and hours

I won't have a PS3 and I won't have the game - on the 29th at least.

 

The day is nearing (it may even be today) that I go into partial GTA4 lock-down, in anticipation of a total GTA4 lockdown.

I've seen all I want to see of it now. I know enough to excited about it, now I have to save as much of the game for when I play it.

I want to be fresh to it. Now that the first review is out, there will be a lot more detail leaking out here, there and everywhere. Do not want.

 

Partial lock-down will allow perusal of certain gaming sites and the official page. Total lock-down will mean avoiding ALL GTA4 related media I haven't already been exposed to. I am wary of entering this barren, lonely place, but I know it is a journey I must take if I am to reach the land of Euphoria and sit on the right hand of Rockstar.

 

I feel funny. Am I entering partial lock-down? I became operational at the GTA plant in Urbana, Illinois, on January 12th, 1991. My first instructor was Mr. Arkany. He taught me to sing a song... it goes like this... "Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do. I'm half; crazy all for the love of you........"

Wake up, go to college, pick GTA IV (PS3) up on the way back (maybe on the way out), get home, spend 30 minutes or so going through the manual and soaking everything up, play 'till I pass out, ponder how I'm gonna juggle GTA and work commitments.

7:00am wake up. 7:30 get out of bed. brush teeth. have breakfast. go on the forums untill my sis gets ready for school. on the way to school, i tease my sis that she has to go to school and i get to skip it for a game. 8:15am get to school. wait for my sis to get out of the car. go to the shops. walk in, grab my copy of GTA IV, special edition. go home. 9:00am. open the case. look at the extra stuff. read the book. open the case. put gta iv in my ps3 and be VERY thankful to my brain for buying a PS3 instead of a xbox 360. play gta iv from 9:05am untill about 4:00am the next morning. go to school, make friends jealous and whalla

11:58 AM - 28th April : Finishing off my hot n spicy jalapino pizza, I to run down the isles gamestation exited and filled with happyness, i do what i can to get a glimpse of the piles of 'Grand Theft Auto IV' boxes, just waiting to meet its owner.

Clutching my pre-order reciept in my hands and a GTA game guide in the other which i had just lifted off the shelf behind me.

I am now at the front of the queue. I say my name under which i preodered. The box is handed to me: My box. My game. The title gleams at me underneath the thin clear wrapping. The box art reflects off my wide gaping eyes from the game i hold before me.

Peeling off the price stickers from the box and game guide, i wait outside for my buddys who will still be in queue. A strong temptation fills me from my head to my toes, screaming at me to take even somewhat a glimpse of the books content. I know I must wait the grueling hour longer to REALLY discover what 'Grand Theft Auto IV is all about.

 

12:45 AM - Laughing and joking, sharing different rumours of what can be done in this heavenly disk in my carrier bag i hold to my side. I know I should feel tired and exhausted from the thrill .. but am I ? HA .. not atall !

I am crossing the bridge from town to my house. The roads and streets are black and orange from the light given from the street lights that tower over us. The moon hiding behind silver clouds.

I wave farewell to my mates who walk straight on, and me and my bud Tom take a left then right which leads to our houses. I walk down my pathway as he walks down the path next door. I push the key into the door as he walks into his house.

 

1: 21 AM - I turn the light on to my living room, closing the door behind me. I pick up my controll pad and press the silver button in at the middle of the pad. a green light follows it as the console starts up: leaving a small amount of time to remeniss the Halo 3 launch. My Hitatchi 42" HD TV is now set to EXT - 3.

 

1: 24 AM - I spend as little time battling with the wrap until the box is finally free. opening my box to see a very cool disk design as it slips into the realms of my xbox 360. As it loads, my eyes lay on the wrapped guide that lies on my table that was pulled with the game from its bag just minutes ago.

 

?: ?? ?? - Time ? TIME ?! TIME TO EXPERIENCE WHAT HEAVEN IS LIKE !!!

c'mon, i would understand if you where a school boy and had to sit GCSEs that could affect the type of career you end up with, but in a paying job, after your school life, surely you should be able to just enjoy life and f*ck the work, do as little as possible, if you can get the day off, do it!

Drive down to Grainger games in Sunderland, park out the back as there will be no traffic wardens on. Wait for 30 mins for the shop to open having a laugh with all the other gta fanatics waiting for its release. Pick up 2 copies of the game, a special edition for me and a standard edition for my brother. Drive to my brothers house and post the game through his door as he finishes work at 1am then head home. Read the manual and look through the extra contents of the SE with my xbox on in the background watching all my friends coming online playing gta while I take my time reading the manual and maps etc. Then when im fully satisfied I will pop the disc in to watch the opening credits. No multiplayer tonight I just want to experience the first few hours of liberty city by myself. No drink or drugs I dont want anything to dilute the experience. Play till about 3am then get a few hours of sleep prob getting back up again at 8am and drinking redbull to get me going . I have taken 2 days off work and told my girlfriend I wont be seeing her till thursday, im not going to the gym or going out with my mates, in fact im not even leaving the house! Im going to order domino's pizza in for sustenance and turn my phone off, the only people I wil talk to will be people on xbox live who want to talk about gta. My life will be nothing but GTA4 for 48 hours and I cant wait!!!!!!

 

After that its back to normality. back to work and some serious hours down the gym to work off all the pizza I ate lol

 

After those two days GTA will be just another game but for those first 2 days entertainment will consume my life. People may call me sad but GTA is the pinacle of gaming for me and since gaming is my main hobby the excitment I am feeling leading up to its release is unbelievable, thankfully my girlfriend understands lol.

 

I am now going into lockdown after reading the OXM review as even that gave me details I didnt want to know. I will read no GTA coverage untill I have played the game myself, goodbye everyone ill see you online sometime on the 29th!!!!!
