Fuzzknuckles
One thing I truly loved about Vice City was the shopping mall. It was the perfect place to get your fury on, stealing the car, going ape crazy with your guns on and jumping on people's heads from the escalators. In San Andreas, all of the shopping areas were outside, with just a few enterable shops. There was no life to them - they were more like parking lots than shopping malls. Let's speculate a little, as we don't know the real truth yet - will the VC style mall return, or will it be another open air arcade? This probably seems like a ridiculous topic and may well have been posted before, but I've not seen it. I know many people will probably direct me to Dead Rising, which, despite being a great game, was a bit one dimensional and lacked variety - but the location was excellent and the feeling of running amok in such a large interior was great. Anyone else want to see this sort of thing return? Signatures are dumb anyway.
Algonquin Bridge
Got to love the enclosed mall. Plus I think that it'd suit Liberty much better than an open air mall.
Destructo
They said there will be almost no loading time, especially when entering buildings. Which means it won't be like SA, where you had to go into the marker, and wait for it to load. So in GTA IV it should be like VC, but without the loading time. They will also be visible the inside from the outside and vice-a-versa
?!=+_-
I'd love to see a vice city type mall and how about the new Infernus inside like in vice city.
Fuzzknuckles
I really hope that's the case, but the shot of the coffee shop in the recent update was all 2D images pasted on to walls - there was nothing through the windows. I hope that was just an early build, but I think we'll be back to the cardboard shopfronts of previous gen GTAs. I have hope for an indoor mall though. Signatures are dumb anyway. Jvcxpc-30
I hope that the mall is inside and you would be able to drive a car inside from the outside like in Driver 3 and just break everything with your car. Kinda like something out of the Blues Brothers.

Trazom
I dont think there are many of those here. The only one I can think of is the one across Macys at 34th st. Anyone else know of them? Plus you cant get your car inside because its too small.
.Up&Coming.
I think they'll bring the VC style mall back, but with more peds and shops and everything. And hopefully they always have a cop chasing the hoodlum in there so I can steal his money when he's dead. Edit: Or steal the cops weapons if the hoodlum wins. rct3twins
Maybe both. The enclosed ones in Algonquin, and strip malls ("parking lots with stores") in Alderney.
. Chippy .
well having seen in a couple of screenshots shops that are on the street and just independent, i don't know if there will be a mall, but one cool thing about shopping that i heard is that instead of going into a little light previewing the clothes, you have to actually go to the hanger and pick it up and take it to the counter and possibly que and sh*t to buy the clothes, who knows you could walk out of the shop with an actual bag in your hand! Carbine23
Well if you're expecting the huge indoor malls with the hundreds of shop, then you don't really get those in New York City. Most of those are on Long Island or in New Jersey, although there is a big mall in Mill Basin, Brooklyn (The Kings Plaza Mall). There might be a mall in midtown Algonquin, or in Alderney City or something like that. But i hope there is an indoor mall so i get the feel of the city. I wouldn't necessarily want the mall to look exactly like Vice City's, because malls in New York don't look like that. In Vice City there was a huge center with shops all around, but in real life the malls have strips of streets or hallways with stores on each side and they cross major intersections. Lol i just remembered something. GTA3 had that huge mall near the park, and it was not enterable So maybe GTA4 will make up for that.

*AMMU-NATION*
In Downtown Minneapolis where I live (i know its nothing like nyc). theres a mall downtown called Nicollet Mall, its about ten city blocks of shops on both sides of the street but the only traffic allowed on the street in the middle are busses. Maybe we can expect something like that, however as many people ahve already said, you dont really see malls in manhattan, just lots of shops. Geachie
I loved the Vice City Mall it had life to it and was just good it was a reasonable size and was good to start havoc. I can't remember a San Andreas Mall maybe because i never really played it because it was repetitive.

Algonquin Bridge
In fact, I wouldn't mind seeing a sort of Dawn-of-the-Dead-1978-Mall. With two levels, a fountain in the middle, A car on a pedestal to drive, security office or whatever. Perhaps a mission could be to scare shoppers by leading a biker gang to drive through the mall on their motorcycles? Heh, a Frank West security guard: "Fantastic." "I'm not afraid to use this- I've covered wars, ya know!" Anybody remember the malls on State of Emergency? Haha Oh the nailgun hilarity. Was it really that long ago?
