rareairtone
dan houser also said he wanted to make the game as realistic as possible and filling up cars is an every day thing would be a let down if ya cant but maybe they are saving that for the next gta Look Fraggyy is correct, ok. What I'm about to say is going to end this whole discussion, unless someone already said so within the last 5 pages (damn). We will not have to fill up at gas stations, although civilians do so. Dan Houser in the EDGE interview said that he wanted us to be able to fill cars up but his "team" of developers shot it down saying it would eventually suck. He's a liberal leader so he decided to go with their opinion, because to him they convinced him that it wouldn't be a good idea--I imagine it would have distracted intense gameplay although it would have added more realism. ONce they see how this GTA does, I think they will see if adding user-activated fuel pumping into future versions. EA might make them do it
bossoner
hi im new to the forums , i think filling up cars would be fun when youve got no missions to etc on like a free roam mode , but would be annoying when trying to play through the story. SantiagoDomingo
Karl, just stop. It is a terrible idea. Will not be in the game. It isn't even worth discussing.
tyas1102
I don't think there will ever be a fuel indicator in a GTA game. One person said that refueling would be similar to eating...Which is true. But the only reason eating is still in is because it's a more realistic way to restore health, and it's a good part of the relationship system as it'd give you more reason to go out and eat with someone other than 'Hey, if I max out his friendship, he'll give me better guns' What does having gas in the cars add for a GTA game?Having to go back to the station every so often to refuel? And then, you drive out of the station, get into a crash, and flip your car.You just wasted 20-100 dollars. Honestly, I can see the fuel thing maybe being implemented in a game where your car is more permanent, but in a game where cars are borderline-expendable, having to refuel each and every car you come across would become expensive and tedious. It's almost as bad as modding a car in GTA; you spend all that money modding the thing, but never take it out of the garage (If it even makes it back to the garage, that is) because you know you're gonna flip it or it's gonna get busted to sh*t. At least car modding has a novelty 'Oooo' and 'Aaaah' factor, and is optional. Making all this controversies, such as fuel, car mod, etc. being an optional in this game would be really really wise decision by Rockstar and TakeTwo.. Everybody is a winner then

MotjoBoss
But why make an add about a electric car (Dilettante)? What's the difference if there's no fuel? I don't know if I whant it. It can be anoying but in SA I always wanted to use it, cause it was there. If it's there I want to use it.
RIZZEL444
I know i made this topic but im begining to think it might get annoying after a time, but if they did make it an option just to test out the feature they will know if it will be popular or not and add it to future gta's or get rid off it for good. They need to test it out so we will know if this is a good idea or not, every one is persuming it wont be fun but how do you know if you havent tried it in a game. thor79
dan houser also said he wanted to make the game as realistic as possible and filling up cars is an every day thing would be a let down if ya cant but maybe they are saving that for the next gta It's clear they are drawing a distinct line in the sand when it comes to realism... They are not going for ultra realistic...that's clear. That's why there will be no fuel requirement and Niko will not have to exercise and eat like Carl did (as far as I know Niko only has to eat to recover health...it's not as realistic as SA)...people found it annoying...so they cut it. It becomes more of a chore or work than fun....which is what the GAME is all about. Edited April 15, 2008 by thor79

I agree with you that car modding in SA was horrid... however if they used the Saints Row way of having your modded car respawn (i assume it got towed) to your garage after it gets destroyed and charge you a fee to repair it. It would work alot better and not be so frustrating..
Gibboniser
I hope they don't , alot. In my opinion that would suck. Peds yes, thats pretty cool watching them but the protaganist .. no - Also sorry to go off topic , but in the 4th trailer when Niko's in that ...(im no good at cars) really fast expensive looking one , when hes reversing as fast as the police are going and spins it and keeps on going ... would't that be impossible because of the direction of the wheel spin? UndergroundKing
I'm just so sick of hearing how annoying and tedious gas would be. Stopping at the gas station, walking up to the gas pump and purchasing gas by simply pushing a button is in no way tedious. If it was in I dont believe you will be required to do it all the time. With the way ppl drive and treat cars in this game, how many ppl will actually keep the car long enuf to see the empty light come on? Also, how is cars that get dirty over time causing you to have to wash them every now and then any different than cars that get low on fuel over time causing you to have to refill it every now and then? What about health that needs to be replenished or guns that need to be reloaded or the relationship feature where friends and girlfriends have to be maintained? How can you ppl overlook the fact that with all the chaos that will be going on cars will constantly get damaged by bullets and wrecks causing you to have to go to the mechanic shop to get them fixed? Even if gas was in the game I guarantee you'll spend more time fixing your cars then filling them with gas so if gas is annoying and tedious then fixing them all the time is worse. and for you ppl who keep saying "it would suck if my car ran out of gas during a chase and stalled out". Well I hope you know cars will stall out during chases when damaged enuf? Isnt that the same thing? Like someone said, making it an option that can be turned on/off would please everybody. RIZZEL444
nicely put underground king i dont think any one can argue with that, i agree you wouldnt hardly be filling up unless if you tried to stick with the same car all the time, some people think every time they get in a car it they will have to fill up and you will be spending more time geting your car fixed than filling it up with fuel only 13 days to go and we will find out if its in or not
Vertical Bird
Note: There is at least 1 hybrid vehicle in the game, so there is a possible chance of buying Fuel/Gasoline/Hydrogen etc. in the game.

Ziggy Jinx
I think Dan Houser said, "No fuel/gas station for the player, you'll waste time and it's not fun" they scratched that idea. I beg to differ... i think that would be well cool plus blowing up a petrol station would be a fantastic sight to see.
