APIOQM
I am studying French in school, and the language is ever so dumb. Although, now that I am bilingual it helps for jobs.
Trazom
I dont think that they should shove the language into you, but rather let you choose.
Tetra Vega
I'm Canadian, and I hate the French. I don't the French but I hate the language. Mainly because the government shuves it done our throats in school so much. That seems a little harsh... learning multiple languages is a great thing and can only help you not hinder you. Not to mention it makes sense to learn the official languages of your country. Please explain to me how learning french is helpful when a very small percentage of people speak it....now if the other language was chinese or w/e its called (no offense to any asian but i dont know the name of the language) then it woul dbe useful because most of the business world speaks english or chinese its just kind of a known fact.....plus screw the official language of my country, i hate the french language most fellow canadians will agree tht it is a b*tch to learn EDIT: if there was a biggest page stretch award this topic would most definitely win oh im sorry... yes learning another language cant help at all... it doesnt help me with my job at canada customs or any other gov. job.. ever work in ottawa? and your right... its so hard to learn french.. learning chinese must be way easier.. all im saying is it cant hurt you.. nothing wrong with learning as many languages as possible.. wow....i really got owned, yea srry i just have a hatred of the french language because i always failed at it and i always got in trouble with my parents because i could never really pass it and i know its a stupid reason but w/e. I know chinese is even more of a b*tch to learn than french but you might as well learn a language that is more useful in common situations cause lets afce it there are a ton of asians in canada or at least where i live (havent travelled much) except for someone in your position which then french is extremely helpful I live in Saint John, and we got a ton of Asians around. You could compare Asian Canadians to the number of Mexican Americans. Not that I have a problem with that. I like asian chicks. But some of the complaints I hear about mirror the anti-Mexican white supremacists. As for stating my opinion of the French, that was also to show that not all Canadians know or even like French. Try asking "French speaker, translation help". There's French people in France yo know... where the magazine originated. The French folks in Canada don't seem to like English a whole lot... hypocrites(sp?) The language spamming was one problem. The other is that most of the French people I've come acrross, have been rude/ignorant or start yelling at you "en francais" *air quotes* randomly out of nowhere. And people think I'm Bipolar... -_-*
