I think that the graphic effect used in multiplayer was quite good, Hell people laughed at cell shaded games before they came out and that didnt stop them doing well. This new artistic look hasnt been tryed before to my recorlection! and i really think it looks good, Plus i will probably be to engrosed in the action happning around me in multiplayer to have time to apprecaiate the view. If im sitting about 9 ft away from my tv it may sharpen up a bit.

One other thing to take into account is that you may be able to turn it off. Other GTA's have had motion blur before that you could switch off.

yeah thats what I was thinking in vice city they had that weird bloom blur crap that you could turn off, I for one like the paint filter look its quite neat looking. Dunno if its just for screenshots or its actually like that during gameplay but I like it.

In GTA 3 you had a setting for the PC..it's called Trails or something. But that just made the graphics look worse. I think the graphics for multiplayer are done that way for a reason and can't be turned off. And in some new screenshots the painting fliter doesn't seem to be there (singleplayer) so maybe it's just a filter they edit the screenshots with. For multiplayer the graphics are probably just a bit toned down so the game won't lag, but that doesn't stop us from having insane fun blasting our way with friends through liberty city!

I say, stop the complaining about the (multiplayer) graphics, when we're playing the game we probably won't notice anything of the graphics flaws cuz we're just caught up in the action.

The graphics have been toned down alot in multiplayer, the filter is put on to make the graphics look better.

it still looks good just not mind blowing but if it stops it from any drop in frame rate i'll take that any day of the week.

Read the Good Cop Bad Cop article on IGN. Says the blur is MP only, too make it run smoothy while 16 people are causing havoc smile.gif

I rather have blur than FPS drops.

Hence why I loved the sandstorms in GTA SA, they really boosted the frames.

What? Bluring, or adding a filter would make the game lag more because it requires more processing power. There has to be another reason - also, they probably turned the draw distance down.

Exactly what i thought, the graphics are bit downed from the SP, so what ? there'll be so much action that unless you're a sharpshooter( and this is highly discouraged by the money system) you won't care/notice about the draw distance drop.

And having the whole city for playground is so awsome, i really don't care if it's less impressive graphically.

The only regret i have is that they are not giving parachutes in MP, how cool would that be to run to the top of a skyscraper, hunted down by 3 guys only to grab the only chute on the roof and base jump your way out of trouble !! sigh.gif

it's not bluring as in adding say, a AA filter tha blurs the edge, it's bluring by removing details afar and things like that

If the original level of detail was kept before a filter is applied then you'd be correct but if they greatly reduce the base (pre-filtered) graphical effects and then apply the filter to hide this fact then you can get an improvement. For example say with full detail it takes 100 "units" to process and the filter takes say 20 then obviously applying the filter to the full situation would take 120, but if you first drop the requirements for the base from say 100 to 70 and then apply the filter the total is only 90. Obviously the filter is never going to be able to recreate the original quality but if its designed well then it should be a fairly effective way of covering up any required reduction in graphical quality and can help contibute to creating a unique look in the game as well.

Thats my understanding anyway

A point I also made on one of the other 10,000 threads on this subject. The gameplay online means so much more than ultimate eye candy.

At The guys who are worried: TBH though - none of us have even seen the game in action, so why are you all so concerned about something you have only seen a still of?

When you get the game, if you dont like the GFX, moan. Until you have seen them on YOUR TV, stop crying.
