It wouldn't lock you out. Sony and Microsoft are finally closing the hole that should've been shut a long time ago. Violent182 Posted April 14, 2008 Share Posted April 14, 2008 a) we don't know whats being censored out. b) multiplayer MAY BE REGION LOCKED. some online stores such as ones in NZ have stated they are still unsure which version they are getting, NZ may get the AU edited version of the game.. so it would mean australia and nz can play MP with each other only.. nobody knows yet, everything is pure speculation. i personally hate the fact that censorship exists, ive already bought my game from cheapgames.com.au, it will be arriving the day its out so i really don't care. GTA isn't a game that strays outside such standards - only the hookers. Take it with a grain of salt if you want, but I can assure you that hookers are the only thing censored. I dont know mate, ,to be honest our history with GTA hasn't been too good...GTA 3 we had no decapitation and reduced blood...i dont care too much about the hookers even though they were great for stocking up on weapons but they MAY reduce the blood level and drunk driving mini game may not be included....even though SR had it but yeah...if you search the boards theres a guy whos compared the rating details to the US/UK/NZ and its got no partial nudity and medium level violence or something...lets not mention small things that R* maybe refer to could be comments made by peds that may be offensive or too vulgar now i wouldn't wanna miss out on that!! Remeber how they removed that comment lazlow made on the Aus and America war?? I dont think its just prostitutes.... btw TC i'm buyin from wonderland_uk as well ordered mine last week i rekon its the safest and cheapest bet. Had them confirm its the UK Pal edition as well. I mean your guranteed the UK coyp and that WILL work on your Aus xbox360 and it will NOT effect your multiplayer experience in anyway. NZ isn't too safe since they have a tendency to share AUS stock. There are games out there with way more blood and gore than GTA IV, so that won't be cut. Saint's Row had alcohol and drugs, so they're not likely to cut it for GTA IV. It depends on your situation which is best for you. If you don't have the money to blow, and don't mind possibly getting the game a couple of days later, I'd say import. Imported games have that extra touch because of the minor foreign packaging differences. And nothing beats the anticipation of waiting for GTA in the mail. As sarcastic as that sounds, I'm being serious. If you do have the money to blow, get the game from the Aussie launch and import, either at the same time or in a few months. Personally, I don't mind throwing my cash away on GTA, so I'll happily buy it in Australia and import it, just for the sake of ensuring I get it as early as possible. Even if half the game was cut, I wouldn't be as far into it to miss anything censored by time I get the full version. Then it is just a simple disc switch. Hell, you could even sell your Aussie version to a friend or on eBay - just keep it in mint condition along with the receipt. Or go EBGames and use the 7-day refund in your advantage. Edit: Comparing the Australian classification details to that of other ratings in foreign countries is like comparing oranges, apples and plums.
