sewers

i was just reading the forums on PSU and one person brought up the idea of having sewers in the game. that would be pretty cool trying to evade cops or having chase scenes with bikes in them, and im not talking about the type of sewers that were partially portrayed in GTA SA im talking about a complex sewer system thats just about under every street, especially since GTA IV is so small anyway, it should have been done.

especially since GTA IV is so small anyway

I can't see what you're basing that off; you haven't even played the game.

They did the subway...in New York, that's pretty much the sewer system.

That'd make my day if they did that. Rockstar could also reference the sewer alligator.

Doesn't look small too me but isn't it already complex enough from having every street named down to about every building accessable.

Are you out of your mind?

You have no idea how the sewer system is. Its far complex then the subway.

I actually think it would be pretty cool.

Head down into the sewers when you get 6 stars, then as you wind through the sewers on foot with 4-5 police behind you, you turn a corner to find that you're surrounded.

The possibilities would be endless. It would be fun. :]

yeah but that would take a lot of the game's bandwidth and space.

It would be kinda cool to find a few unlocked manhole covers that lead to a few very small underground networks... perhaps used as a way to enter buildings undetected or evading police.

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines was the first game I played that made decent use of the sewer system... the worst would be TMNT games. icon13.gif

EDIT: Josh 995... are you serious? Sewers wouldn't be for looking at, genius.

It wouldn't take nearly as much "bandwidth and space" as the internals of one single building would... especially since it wouldn't be rendered until you were either underground or looking into a manhole; as well as the fact there wouldn't be a whole lot drawn while underground in the first place, leaving resources for higher quality dynamic lights and water effects.

No way! Are you like, totally serious?! Like, oh my God. Oh my God, I don't, like, know what to say?!

I like, totally thought sewers would be all, like, pretty and stuff and like, everyone would want to like, look at them! Oh Mi Gosh! LIKE NO WAY!

OH EM GI!

Also, thank you for calling me a genius, I do consider myself rather smart.

Anyone with even a quarter of a brain would know that I was clearly pointing out that sewers would be an extremely minimal part of the game, and most certainly don't deserve their own thread on this forum, especially when other similar topics get locked right away.

True. Wasn't it revealed that it took some previewers 10 minutes to boat down the side of Algoquin? If so, that's enormous, especially taking into account the detail.

Yeah, it's around the size of San Andreas, and San Andreas is one of the largest single load maps in a game to date. Not to metion how DENSE Liberty City will be, and the number of buildings you can enter as well as being able to go to the roof's of buildings. I wouldn't say the map is small by any means.
