RoAcHcliP
Mario Kart Wii comes out Friday. My hopes arent too high, but im still somewhat excited after spending all last summer playing double dash. Im not too bothered about the motion sensing, but its still nice to have. We are gonna play the f*ck out of this, plus the online might be fun too! Too bad they took out snaking, but it still looks pretty sweet. I hope it doesnt suck too much. Preview video
ryuclan
Yeh with the additions of motorcycles it seems they are trying to step it up. But I just don't like the way Nintendo rotates their old products to the front every year and sell it as new. I think they may be scared to commit to something new. Anyway this game still looks good and SSB Brawl was really good (besides online play)
SmellyJelly
Honestly, I'm not too excited for this. I would have prefered if Nintendo had based this game more on the Mario Kart 64. But the addition of motorcycles, doing tricks off of jumps (I think), and the uninteresting stages lowers my expectations. Of course I'll hold my final judgement until I actually play it. Jevon
I wish they'd made it more like Mario Kart for the SNES - simple, addictive, fun. Even MK 64 seemed a bit too complex for what it was trying to be, never have really got into it. Mind you, I also hate it when games are made harder by having the AI cheat rather than play better, so that probably doesn't help as it's blindingly obvious in MK 64. I want it to be great; I'm worried it'll be over-complex thus not. Tchuck
I'm excited only because it's Mario Kart, I'm expecting it to be in the very least quite fun. Double Dash was for me one of the most unbalanced ones, what with getting a heckload of blue shells while in last place, while getting nothing to protect yourself in first place? Not to mention the AI. Then there was that whole snaking thing, those who snaked had a huge, HUGE advantage over those who didn't. But in a race with the cpu I guess it didn't matter, as you'd always end up with a blue shell. Mario Kart 64's blue shells were like, an extremely rare occasion, thus you had to rely less on luck. I also liked that the red shells you shot at first place would just keep going through the course of the race, eventually hitting someone The battle mode was the best on the 64 too, with the bomb revenge after you lost all your balloons. Then there was the SNES one, remember skipping many classes just to play it non stop, hella fun and awesome tracks. All in all, hoping this to be a good game
RoAcHcliP
Finally, its coming out tomorrow! I haven't pre-ordered or anything, going to pick it up in the afternoon around 1. I doubt its going to be sold out, but you never know. I f*cking hated the constant blue shells in DD also. My housemates insist on playing baby park, with nine laps over and over (with change of characters). It drove me mad, the whole race doesnt matter until the last half lap. If your in first place in the last lap, you are f*cked for sure!
Daz
Since when did they ditch Go-Karts for actual cars. Wouldnt it now be Mario Car?
saintdave
The Karts are still there but there is the option to use motorbikes too, which can be used in races against players using karts. They have jazzed up some classic tracks too such as ghost valley from the SNES game.

RoAcHcliP
Im quite impressed! The online works perfect, and its fun to see who you are playing against. In the game lobby it shows the Mii of who is playing, then their location on a 3d globe! Works fine, no lag and is genuinely fun! The graphics are ok for singleplayer, but multiplayer looks like gamecube pretty much. I didnt know that you can play two player, over the wifi against other people! All of a sudden, its me and my housemate, along with 4 Japanese, two Germans, an Aussie and 2 Dutch! The levels are fun, and im overall happy with the game
E.A.B.
Honestly, I'm not too excited for this. I would have prefered if Nintendo had based this game more on the Mario Kart 64. While the game was fun back then and certainly worth playing, go back to it now. It's really kinda...kinda...well, Doube Dash easily beats it in the single player (though some of the courses in 64 were better/great [like Yoshis course, Banshee Boardwalk, Bowsers castle or that turnpike level]), but not in multiplayer. The levels were bigger and allowed for more fun, while DD had smaller levels. Still, the levels in 64 felt more original. the levels in DD felt like a homage to 64. The graphics are ok for singleplayer, but multiplayer looks like gamecube pretty much. Well duh it's a Wii, you're not gonna get mind blowing graphics with it. I hear it looks nice in motion though. Screenshots don't do it justice.
