anus
Hey. Well, I have Battlefield 1942 and both it's expansions (Road to Rome and Secret Weapons of WW2) and want to know where I can find some custom singleplayer maps for it, I've tried looking everywhere but they're all multiplayer maps . Please help. Thanks in advance .
Macintire Sniper
Hello. I've been playing 1942 since its release and still do, and to date I've never seen any single player custom maps. I think pretty much everyone who has played/plays the Battlefield series knows that it is definitely not known for its single player gameplay, which is readily noticeable by the lack of effort EA put into it. If however you do want a good multiplayer map try download Omaha beach 1944 Charlie. Its the most realistic Omaha beach map I've ever played but to be honest you might find it difficult to find an mp server, don't think I've seen one online for a while now. anus
Thanks for the help, the reason why I asked for some single player maps is because my connection isn't that good and so can't play multiplayer. But thanks! Also, it's good to see someone who still plays 1942 . Oh and weren't you in The Scorps ? I think I remember you.
Macintire Sniper
Erm Scorps...no I don't think so. I was in the Forelli's, System, AMF, and I started Team 12 to name a few. To be honest all these gangs were so long ago its hard to remember.
anus
Oh . I guess my memory's a bit rusty, but I do remember you .
Vanzant
I have tons of Maps for BF 1942. A quick Google search should take you to quite a few decent sites. If what you're looking for is new stuff, I doubt you're going to find much these days as no one really works on making maps for it. Theres always Mecillious Creations, they still work on Mods and new maps.
anus
Yeah I've used Google and have found a lot of maps, but the problem is none of them are for single player, and I'm looking for single player ones. I want to ask another question, I'll ask it here since I already have a topic. What country (from BF1942, Road to Rome and Secret Weapons of WW2) has the best sniper rifle? I think the Germans have the best as their K98 seems to have a longer distance, but what's your pick?
Macintire Sniper
I'd have to say that in all 1942, and Call of Duty my favourite rifle is the K98, as you rightly said it has better accuracy and longer distance, and I loved the range and speed of it in CoD. I'd probably say the class that I play most is definitely medic, as I only play Omaha and the Thompson is good for close to medium ranges.
Vanzant
Two of my custom maps have scopes on the M1. I think both sniper rifles are the same in BF1942. I hardly notice a difference.
anus
@Macintire, I usually play as a scout since I LOVE sniping, I've played as medic too, but I seem to suck with the Thompson , but I've yet to try out engineer. @Vanzant, The American rifles seem to be less accurate and also seem to have a shorter distance than the K98, try experimenting yourself . Macintire Sniper
Haha, yeh the Thompson does take some getting used to at first but once you've mastered it you can pop people off at a distance, not bad for a 'close range' gun. Do any of you two remember the Eve of Destruction and Desert Combat mods? There seems to have been a point in time when people just started going crazy for mod's for 1942, all within a couple of months, it was pretty ace. Eve of Destruction was the jungle warfare map where the maps were dark as sh*t and the jungle density was amazing, it was like an early Battlefield Vietnam which I presume EA copied it from, seeing as they did the same when they realised Desert Combat was doing so well. -slash
Haha I can remember playing on BUGS omaha back when I first got 42 and had no idea what pings meant. Good times. Still playing the damn game 3/4 years on too.
darthYENIK
Wow, I was just wondering if anyone still played this game. I remember sh*tting myself with anticipation for it before the release. We need to get a game going sometime.
anus
@Mac, I remember the Eve of Destruction mod, but I always thought it was for Vietnam, wasn't it ? Oh and Desert Combat is still very popular, it's like BF2 in BF1942, one of the best mods I've ever come across, much respect to the makers . @Yenik, BF2 is all the rage in GTAF though, 1942 and Vietnam is rarely even spoken about. Macintire Sniper
Haha I can remember playing on BUGS omaha back when I first got 42 and had no idea what pings meant. Good times. Hah, yeah not many new players do and they get kicked all the time. It's actually my dad and a big group of his european friends that set up and run the BUGS server's. I was there when it started and was an admin for about 2/3 years but I stopped playing less and less when BF2 came out, although I'm bored of it and back onto 1942 now (well, I will be when my internet sorts itself out) Warlord - Hmm, I always though the EoD was for 1942? Aha, after just doing a quick google search it looks like the mod is still going! Here's the link : Eve of Destruction Homepage. On that site it says its for Battlefield Vietnam and 1942, so I must have played the 1942 one. While we're on the subject, what did you guys think of Battlefield Vietnam? I remember thinking it sounded great and checked the homepage to see when it was released and when it was and I finally got my hands on it I thought it was f*cking ace, with the Phantoms and Huey's and booby traps...but after a while when I realised that the graphics sucked (even with a good card) and there was massive holes in the PB system that let people use all sorts of cheats, myself and a lot of people starting playing it less and less. To me it felt like a really rushed job by EA and it was used to just bring in some cash to most probably fund BF2. Shame though as the jungle maps were really good and if they'd have put as much effort into Vietnam as they did into BF2 it would have been a cracking game* *Call of Duty is still better though. anus
I like Vietnam, it really rocks if you get EoD for it and the latest patch which fixes a load of extremely frustrating problems. I agree with you on it being a rushed game, the release version of the game (without any patches) had loads of performance and other bugs and even with the latest patch there seems to be some problems remaining. Plus...I seem to like the overall 'feel' of 1942 as opposed to Vietnam, but EoD fixes that .
