Vic Campo
I need to build a computer that will run CoD4 easily. What do you suggest? Price range in about the $1,000AUD range and only need the computer eg. not screen, keyboard, mouse etc.

Picolini
That's roughly $900 USD... I was board and came up with this build yesterday night at Newegg.com, but they only ship US. Total came out to just over $800 USD with shipping, you could probably find these parts for a similar price over there. You could save more (about $40 USD) if you went with an E8400 Core 2 Duo (3.0Ghz) and you'd probably get similar speeds all around as lots of programs are ready for Quad core, but you'd be ready for the near future with the quad. Of course, you could get a smaller HDD and possibly a cheaper PSU. But what I have here seems to fit your budget. I'm not familiar with the board, but it's got excellent reviews at Newegg, sounds good to me. As to if it will run CoD4 easily, maybe not on the highest settings, but I would assume quite decent settings, damn near high. Quad Core, 8800GTS 320MB, 2GB RAM. COOLER MASTER Centurion 532 RC-532-SKN1 (ATX Mid Tower Case) $54.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16811119094 Western Digital Caviar 500GB HDD $94.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16822136073 EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 320MB $144.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130082 Sony NEC Optiarc Black IDE DVD-ROM $17.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16827101131 XCLIO GOODPOWER ATX 500W PSU $59.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817189005 G.SKILL 2 x 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) $34.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820231098 GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX $89.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813128059 Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz LGA 775 Quad-Core Processor $234.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16819115018 APEVIA CF12SL-UBL 120mm Blue LED Case Fan $7.49 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16811998121 COOLER MASTER 92mm Hyper TX2 HSF $24.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16835103031 Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound $5.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16835100007 Again those are all in USD, not AUD, so keep that in mind. This comes out to roughly $800 with shipping through Newegg, so if you find the components with similar prices over there I'd say you'd have a solid PC. You could always spend the extra $100 left over in your budget for a better card that would almost ensure CoD4 would run great. I haven't looked into the 8800GTS much myself, so I can't say much about it. You could probably squeeze another $50-100 off this build if you get the E8400 like I said, as well as a smaller HD and maybe if you find some better deals (that's unlikely). Good luck edit: Oh, don't forget, you'll need an OS. XP will run about $75-100. Vista Home Premium is $100. Picolini
Meh, either way. I haven't built a system yet, so I haven't looked deep into it. It's a bit more expensive, but hey, $3 isn't sh*t when it comes to protecting a several hundred dollar CPU.
