a_flyin_penguin
My wife will get into a game more than me sometimes, but I really have to do some coaxing to get her to pick it up and try. Once she gets the main points of gameplay, though, she gets addicted. She liked to look at the scenery on Oblivion as I played, until she got bored at least. I told her that it was something she needed to experience and eventually convinced her to play. She started a new game and played for nearly 5 hours! I don't think it will be that hard to get her to play GTA IV though. She's been a casual fan of the series on and off before. Now if I can just convince her that we need to buy a 2nd 360... lol. steelsmokin07
I'm 24 at the moment and married. My wife gets annoyed sometimes, especially when I play Oblivion for more than a couple hours at a time, but she is overall fine with my gaming. I seriously despise playing online, though. I doubt I will be getting a Live Gold account again any time soon, unless it is required for the Social club stats thing. I love Leaderboards and stats, and I am a fanatic about my GTA stats, haha. If any active account earns leaderboard props through R*, I'll just stick with my Silver account so I can get the DLC later. I hate the Immature kiddies who curse at me through pre-pubescent voices. Whichever part of the community in Live you choose (even the family zone), you still hear the incessant insults from kids who shouldn't even be playing most of those games in the first place. AMEN brother @ kids who shouldn't even be playing... You know, if wives understood the benefits of allowing their hubbies to play, they might not be so against the idea. My wife knows that as long as I'm playing, I'm at home, not out at the club, or titty bar, or party, or whatever - spending money because that's what you do when you're out. So, dropping $50 or $60 on a game is nothing compared to what I'd spend on a single night out- cover charge, food, drinks, more drinks, more drinks...you get the picture. And that's just for one night. Multiply that by the insane number of nights/weekends/days that I've spent on the GTA franchise and what I've truly done is save my family some hard earned cash. Plus, GTA after drinkin is just TOO engaging...altho drink is not required, it does make it more fun. Thankfully, my wife does understand...she is way cool tho in general. She'll even play from time to time (mostly racing games tho where she swears she can beat me...and tbh, she has lol) which is cool because it isn't often so I can be left to my own devices undisturbed, except for when she brings me a beer! I love my wife, can you not tell? Thats how I feel man. I'm not boozing or doing drugs, I'm at home spending time with the family, doing family things, and then when its time to quite down for the night I grab my sticks and I play Oblivion or Rockband for a couple of hours. Its kind of a release without having to use a younger woman for the release part. Trust me before my wife tamed me I was Nick Naylor from Thank You For Smoking. Pick a broad, pick a party and I was there, I was Charles Bronsan in the great escape, I've dug more tunnels than what the hell is that called under the English channel, The Chunnel or whatever its called. But this keeps me at home, keeps me with the family, keeps me from going to spend hundreds of dollars a week on booze and whatever other trouble I can get myself in, and it keeps me happy cause it is something I enjoy more than being a "lounge hound." And I can't say that my wife is totally unsupportive of my gaming, she plays too, but if you don't want me playing all the time, don't bitch when I go out, and if I am playing, don't bitch that I don't go out and do anything. I own my own business, I bust my ass, I come home, do housework because I enjoy working around the house, spend time with my children and my wife, but when I want a few hours of gaming time, don't bust my balls about it. GrahamPaul
Did you give your age or just mention your home life and marital status!? Come on, share with the group! Ok I'm 43 in a civil partnership with my Uncle Bob. We rent a shack out East in the old Western country town of Southern Northern Johanberg in the Upper part of the Mississippi. We play games often (tic tac toe etc.) We are waiting for the slimmed down PC version of GTAIV to come out to be able to run on our Sinclair. I'll admit, it certainly is one of the better threads; and good to know I'm not the only 'mature' gamer on here. Figured Slamman and a couple of others...you can usually tell the difference between the kiddies and the mature folk. Those who are, are already aware of this. GTA:IV
Here's a question I'd like to know from you OLDER members without wives! Do you have girlfriends? or are you all just bachelors that can't get dates because of your video game addiction. My girlfriend gives me enough hell as it is because I play GTA. I'm 20 and engaged to my fiancee, she plays GTA with me sometimes and other stuff too, she's played CoD4 once or twice and got a good kill streak..better then me actually lol @ speedracertj: Agreed, Women should play video games. OT: I'm 20 as stated above so if you wanna add me to ps3 my PSN: SAS_Castle. I hate all those kids too that mess around or shout down the mic and say "pwn!!!" every time they kill someone, then you kill them and they go all bitchy at you with childish and silly insults. Add me if you like

John Plays Drums
Lol, owned. Im 14 but i dont act like a noob online. (lost4468 for any one who wants to add me) Fail. Point illustrated with the finesse of the S.A.S. My dear, you've completely invalidated your retort by responding in much the same fashion as the imbecilic c*nt(s) you claim to loathe. Anyone who uses the term "fail" after the age of thirty is, by all purposes, an omadawn. Aside from this, you (and the others) seem like very respectable individuals. However, it's well apparent that your tolerance for idiocy is non-existent. I'm smitten.
kyuuki
22 here, I was beginning to think i was the oldest person on these forums! They are a trashy place so I usually post on some of the more mature forums. To deal with the annoying young guys online the best tactic is to just mute and outplay them, I don't know about you guys but i have been playing games longer than most of them have been alive. Thus most of them are walk overs. They can be outsmarted, Outplayed, But unfortunately they will probably outlive us!
Devils Son
My life as a gamer started out on the good ol Spectrum 48k, Good times! Dizzy / Skool Daze! Since I was a kid I had always loved games, then come along the Amiga >> NES >> SNES >> Playstation / Xbox And i have been hooked since. I have no time for online cheaters / griefers / 133t talking dribble. I don't care what age someone is as long as they play a decent and fair game, then all is good. i had a speccy when i was a lad! dizzy was great but the best game was double dragon. edit- btw i'm a 24yo lothario(!) zengonzo
As a twenty-nine-er, I have to admit to being somewhat self-conscious about how mad I am for this game. Not that I have a problem with being an adult who plays video games, but rather that I am so viciously obsessed with this particular game's arrival. It doesn't help that most of my friends aren't as game-oriented as myself.
