It's good to know there are many here around my age or older. I am probably one of the youngest ones in this thread (for a change biggrin.gif ) as I am 23 years old. I can tell you now I won't be married come age 30 or even 40, I never cared to marry and it's a good job we have the choice to either remain bachelors or "settle down" these days.

I'm only 16 but I hate playing with 12 year old idiots that don't know English very well. I had a clan in SA-MP and I actualy closed it due to most of the members being 12 year olds always arguing and flaming each other. I'm like, dudes GROW UP!

I have a PS3 so you wouldn't be able to play with me confused.gif

19 here and hate, 18< kids. add me Gamertag=JS1989

You're too young for this thread.

It's rated 'O', for 'Old'.

Does that mean I'm too old?

God, I thought I'd have to wait 20 or so years before I asked that. dontgetit.gif

I'm 40 and married with two children. I've been playing video games since tennis consited of two sticks and a dot going back and forth over the TV screen. Most of my friends also play console or PC games, but I'm the only one hooked on GTA. If you think I'm a retarded old fart, you're probably right. But remember this, most of the gaming industry is run by people my age.

You probably wonder how the hell I find the time to play, with job, family, social activities and all. The thing is, I stopped watching TV years ago. TV is the single most time consuming (and braindead) activity you'll ever engage in.

Actually, I hope to die of old age with a gamepad glued to my hands.

The average age for a gamer is like 15-16, wtf.

Anyone like the irony in this post? (look at his sig for help). Ontopic though I only really play with my clan mates, we have an agfe limit of 21 so I don't witness the worst.

My life as a gamer started out on the good ol Spectrum 48k,

Good times! Dizzy / Skool Daze!

Since I was a kid I had always loved games, then come along the Amiga >> NES >> SNES >> Playstation / Xbox

And i have been hooked since. I have no time for online cheaters / griefers / 133t talking dribble. I don't care what age someone is as long as they play a decent and fair game, then all is good.

My buddy, Mr. Earl Root believes firmly in TV being the worst waste of time, but he's a workaholic now struggling with hospital stays and cancer treatments. It's a real shame he has to give up the things he loves but he is a smoker who can't seem to kick the sticks.

I have no problems with TV, well, watching it anyway, the programming on the other hand... Getting worse everyday!

I used Apple and the Magnavox Odyssey that of course was little blips simulating Tennis and Squash (IIRC). Recall those MAttel handheld football things? Early portables just had LED segments that were pre-formed and backlit to create the illusion of movement. Then Atari 2600 and Coleco, Sega Master System (I have only Outrun to this day!)

P.S. If you want to play with a mature audience, switch to PS3. I've only met two annoying people on COD4 in my hours and hours of playing.

I still have one of those - a hockey game. The only thing worse than the graphics (actually, a LED dot) is the sound played when you score. It's like the Grimm Reaper has come to collect your soul"

Since I can't bare to part with anything (which is why my garage hasn't seen a car in years), I also still have my Commodore 64 with an external disc(ette)player and a Fast Load Cartridge... oh yeah! Someday, I'll tell the kids I sold the PS and now they have to play with is this *amazing* new Commodore 64... I'll be dad of the month for sure!

I had a portable system when I was like 5 (can't remember what it was called--garage sale purchase I think) that was just lights. One game was football, and you'd 'move' one light from one end to the other, 'dodging' the other lights. If you made it, it would buzz and just about make you pee your pants.

I didn't play that game much.

I'm mid 20s gamer. And I know what you mean about wasting your time listening to immature 14 year old gamers, but what can you do, these machines are geared towards them too. I wish they had something that you could filter the age of those you play with but then all of us 25+ would probably playing close to by ourselves.

Its unfortuneate the days of Commodore computers with floppy disks and the original doom 1 on 1 deathmatch on the old IBM workstations are gone before anyone ever knew what the f*ck an internet connection was.

I hate walking in the room and talking about new games and game tech and the only person who understands me hasn't even had the ability to shave yet.

Don't get me wrong young people, I'm not hating on you, this is your time now, people like me and this gentleman here paved the way for this to be your time. Just more and more as I get older I feel like a relic of cold war.

28. PS3. No online. Don't have the time for it. That, and I really don't have too many viable options when it comes to getting internet at our house. Sure, I "steal" wifi via my Macbook, but that thing has a crazy antenna on it. My PS3 won't even pick up the signal, while my Macbook gets full bars. I have Dish Network for TV. There's no internet through them. So to get internet, I'd have to either break my contract with Dish and go with Comsuckast, to which I'd pay even more than I do now for the same stuff, plus broadband, and I'd also have to get a landline with that package, which I don't want or need. AND I'd have to deal with Comsuckast, the worst company evar. My other option is DSL via Embarq. Can't get that unless I get...wait for it...a LAND LINE! So for now, my PS3 is offline. If something better comes up, that may change...but for now, bah to online. With my crazy day-to-day, it'll take enough of my time just to play the single player GTA IV. tounge.gif

My wife is about this close || to sabatoge I think. She'll probably screw with me when I go pick it up on midnight release and hide the HDMI cable or something. Just something to tick me off for a minute until I get it out of the box, then she'll reluctantly give it back. Don't get me wrong she loves GTA too, but she knows she's not seeing any controller time for about a week.

I'm older than it says...and I don't do online anymore. Funny that GTA_Godfather should call consoles junior high; I had the worst experiences with kiddies on Counterstrike for the PC (obviously) so I don't know what he's talkin about.

icon14.gif to the fellows who don't let the kids take over; some of those kids are just wacko with their commentary. Now I get why adults dislike kids so much though...they truly can be some obnoxious little f*cks.

Edited to add: my wife (got 2 daughters too) is supportive of my gaming; and I don't give her crap when she wants to go out shopping or wherever. Both daughters are gamers, altho the youngest is by far the most prolific - she'll play anything from the Sims to the Godfather to Fable - the more immersive it is, the more likely she is to play it.

So, my only problem is game time...its why I got them their own game systems. LOL

I'm 24 at the moment and married. My wife gets annoyed sometimes, especially when I play Oblivion for more than a couple hours at a time, but she is overall fine with my gaming. I seriously despise playing online, though. I doubt I will be getting a Live Gold account again any time soon, unless it is required for the Social club stats thing. I love Leaderboards and stats, and I am a fanatic about my GTA stats, haha. If any active account earns leaderboard props through R*, I'll just stick with my Silver account so I can get the DLC later. I hate the Immature kiddies who curse at me through pre-pubescent voices. Whichever part of the community in Live you choose (even the family zone), you still hear the incessant insults from kids who shouldn't even be playing most of those games in the first place.

AMEN brother @ kids who shouldn't even be playing...

You know, if wives understood the benefits of allowing their hubbies to play, they might not be so against the idea. My wife knows that as long as I'm playing, I'm at home, not out at the club, or titty bar, or party, or whatever - spending money because that's what you do when you're out. So, dropping $50 or $60 on a game is nothing compared to what I'd spend on a single night out- cover charge, food, drinks, more drinks, more drinks...you get the picture. And that's just for one night.

Multiply that by the insane number of nights/weekends/days that I've spent on the GTA franchise and what I've truly done is save my family some hard earned cash. Plus, GTA after drinkin is just TOO engaging...altho drink is not required, it does make it more fun.

Thankfully, my wife does understand...she is way cool tho in general. She'll even play from time to time (mostly racing games tho where she swears she can beat me...and tbh, she has lol) which is cool because it isn't often so I can be left to my own devices undisturbed, except for when she brings me a beer! I love my wife, can you not tell? Shifty41s_beerhatsmilie2.gif

Edited to add: I should say, my SECOND wife is the uber cool...my first wife probably would not have been so civil about it, but then, who knows- she gave me enough of the blues when I was goin out on the town and whatnot. LOL

32, married, with a 2 1/2 year old daughter. I've had my 360 for nearly a year and never once went online. I can't stand the immaturity and cheating there. Last time I did any online gaming was Battlefield 2 (PC) about 2 or 3 years ago. It was ridiculous.
