Diggdydog Posted April 4, 2008 Share Posted April 4, 2008 Hey guysim not really on this forum but thort the new GTA was coming out so i thort i would join up now i am also a aussie that was pi$t about this cencor crap but might say i havent looked at all the post in this thread, but if you own a PS3 you are laughing as its not region protected so u can get one from the US Japan china u name it and it will play, How ever the poor 360, we wont get that much into that as it has the region protection on it so they will have to hunt around for another PAL version and hope for the best. there are many places u can get them for instace amazon, ebay ect these prob have been bought up alot also if you get on good with somone in the states or ect ya can get them to send u the game and transfer the correct money into there account ect so dont crack it too much (well if ya own a 360 pannic for the worse coz your cencored for life) but all in all, it is possible to get a uncencored version in to Aus i myself am getting a USA version thnx USA as i own a ps3 its fairly simple to ask me cousin in the states to send me one. i will add if most of this have been coverd b4 i do appoligize cheers Warnut hey pal just order it online only about 35 pounds or $80 yeh m8t i have orderd it me cousins done 2 pre orders in the states so he wil be sending it over as soon as its out and i know i could prob get it cheaper but with me money's no option for a awsome game alright friend ( i had to continue the pal, mate, ect) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You can have heads being blown apart, people being burned alive and other sick torturing sh*t, but as soon as the prostitutes come to town it's censorship time motherf*ckaz true. oh let the kids murder millions of people, but sex? the most natural thing in the world? o heaven forbid they should every find out where they came from. I have great politics and law scores (top of class and 95%) Just so I can argue the point of free speach in relation to videogames. Film and literature is protected so why shouldn't games, interactive movies if you will, be included? I have nothing against 18+ or AO ratings, they should be encouraged in fact. The only way we are going to get this through is if a big-time lawyer takes it to court. I don't particulary like having my constitutional rights taken away from me. I'd gladly exchange the right for a phonecall if prosecuted for the right to free speach . On second throught, i'll just become a commercial pilot. I urge any Australian on this forum to do likewise and even use some of the text I wrote: My concern is that our countries current rating system in not having a R18+ rating has become woefully out of date and no longer reflects the place that video games occupy in our society. The rapid development of video games that I have observed as I grew up has led to an industry today that is larger than that of the cinema. The new technologies employed in this medium are now capable of providing much more vivid experiences as well as telling more meaningful stories. This is similar to the development of technology in cinema where it moved from the display of simple visual illusions to the grand narratives we have come to know. I feel that the development of cinema as a storytelling medium was met with an understanding that it could tell stories that would cater to people with many different tastes and interests, one of which could result in a film being given a R18+ rating. As an adult gamer I feel that games are now able to engage with me on levels that suit my own maturity. I have become aware just today that one game Grand Theft Auto IV from the developer Rockstar games will be edited for its Australian release because in its original version could not be given a MA15+ classification. I have eagerly awaited this game and have noticed from previews of the product that it has shown a story that is deeper and more engaging than what has been seen previous in the gaming industry. I feel that the lack of a R18+ rating in our country is preventing me from experiencing this game as its developers intended and is illustrative of our rating system being inadequate to provide for the gaming community whose average age in our country I have found to be twenty eight. I feel strongly enough about this issue that I felt compelled to send you this correspondence. I hope that you will take my views into consideration should this issue ever come into your sphere of influence. My intention from this point onwards is to no longer purchase this game from my local store but instead seek out a copy of the game from overseas where I will be able to obtain an unedited version of Grand Theft Auto IV. MaxxxDamage Posted April 7, 2008 Share Posted April 7, 2008 i asked gameswarhouse about what copies they would be selling, any one who has had dealings with gameswarehouse will know they are reliable and if they dont know an answer, they will say "we dont know but will update you when we know" so the following came as a suprise, this is straight from the email they emailed me: Hello Bill, Take 2 have offered this explanation. I have verified the dates and they are correct. GTA4 was submitted in early December 07 for classification here and in the UK. Both games were identical and both games in both regions were given 15 or MA15+ rating. Rockstar has resubmitted GTA4 in the UK, and apparently the US, and on the 31st of March this version gained an 18 rating in the UK. When quizzed about the differences, Take 2 said “very small” and “minor” things were added to the UK version. When quizzed on game content i.e. missions, achievements, mini missions, usable items etc, no direct answer was given. We will endeavour to provide updated information the moment it comes out.
