The Office of Film and Literature Classification awarded the game an MA15+ rating on December 11 last year, advising consumers that the game contains "strong violence, strong coarse language, drug and sexual references". A Rockstar spokesperson confirmed to Screen Play yesterday that the company had produced a special version of GTA IV to comply with the Australian classification system, which does not currently contain an R18+ rating, but declined to reveal what material had been cut. http://blogs.theage.com.au/screenplay/archives//009125.html Apparently Australia will get a censored version of the game... When I pre-ordered San Andreas I got the full version and they censored about a month later... here's hoping my version of GTA IV will be uncensored! What did they censor from SA? If this gets passed (only one politician in South Australia stand against it), maybe Rockstar will re-submit and save them producing two versions. Even if it happens it would be too late for GTA4, it won't happen though just like every other time its tried to be put forward. @gibbs - He means when Hot Coffee happened, like the US the game was taken off shelves and then re-submitted with Hot Coffee removed. Then we find out, that our extra 50 bucks buys us a watered down version, while I wouldn't want to live anywhere else especially the US, this fu*king sucks! For me, it's not missing out on a titty show, it's the fact that as an adult, I can't chose what is and what is not suitable to buy. I know they're just trying to inform parents and restrain kids, but the gaming age is getting higher and higher and as a result they should alter the classification system to reflect that. The average age of an Aussie gamer is 28, anyone besides the 2 capslock posters can realise that this is higher than 18. I can buy R18 movies, go to the movies and watch R18 movies but I can't play an R18 game in the comfort of my own home? I really do hope they introduce R18 gaming into Australia for future games.
