The Office of Film and Literature Classification awarded the game an MA15+ rating on December 11 last year, advising consumers that the game contains "strong violence, strong coarse language, drug and sexual references". A Rockstar spokesperson confirmed to Screen Play yesterday that the company had produced a special version of GTA IV to comply with the Australian classification system, which does not currently contain an R18+ rating, but declined to reveal what material had been cut. http://blogs.theage.com.au/screenplay/archives//009125.html Apparently Australia will get a censored version of the game... When I pre-ordered San Andreas I got the full version and they censored about a month later... here's hoping my version of GTA IV will be uncensored! You can still pick up hookers (which was a big debate in GTAIII in Australia) in LCS and SA, even in new copies of the game. There must be something much, much worse in IV for them to block. The game was given an M-15+ rating in Australia way before America, the UK, and Germany rated the game. Blogs are not a good source for reliable information. This is why the people thought it got through un-touched, the OFLC listed the game as in its original form and it was as far as the OFLC were concerned. As to what they've removed I'd say probably the main culptrit, "Hookers" or its what I've hoped they've changed. I'm sure the games would have been shipped by then and the rating will remain the same. I for one don't care about the rating change, I don't mind missing out on fake tits, doesn't push my buttons anyway. Some people might think it's sad that Australia gets it censored, but I find it even sadder that some people think they need the nudity in their games.
