Ziggy Jinx
One thing i wish i did was to learn the cities roads... so i wonder if the sat nav will take you the shortest way to your waypoint or your previous knowlegde will get you around the city faster. In this game like others have said im gunna take my time and learn the city like the back of my hand and enjoy it to the max. So did anyone know the city in and out like it was their own hood. As for knowing my way, yea I know my way around III (maybe not so well anymore as I haven't played it since VC came out ) . I know VC and SA pretty damn well but with SA I still find the odd occassion where I need to look at the map to remember where something is e.g. the Bandito, I'll know it on a beach but I sometimes forget which one lol. I'm sure i will notice a few areas. i live in NY but not in the city, aprox. 36 miles away from it.

Liquid KO
since its based on NEW YORK CITY and i live in NYC.. i dont think i will get lost at all =/ i just hope Liberty city doesnt have a congestion plan and make you pay a certain amount of money to enter the middle island like we have here in manhattan >_<
lloydo
Why is there no explanation as to why Liberty City has changed every buliding and its island shapes since GTA3? I knew GTA3 off by heart, as well as any GTA map, so this GTA4 map will be no bother.

Liquid KO
from what i seen in gtaiv gameplay the streets and neighborhoods are quite similar.. obviously not PICTURE PERFECT to exact detail but im sure i will be able to go to a spot in the game and be like.. look thats where i live that would be pretty cool to do =o

Crime is not as easy to commit these days as it was in previous years. Thats not to say there isn't crime, because there is, and it can be violent. But don't think Liberty City is a copy of New York living. NY is a city, like any other city. There is crime, it is certainly not the place where the American dream goes to die. mac915
I'm fairly positive even if you live in NYC(like I do), you will not be able to find specific points. It's not a recreation of NY, its a work inspired by it. Yeah some places will be the same, or in the same places, but that will most likely be places a lot of people(tourists) travel too. Downtown and Midtown will probably be fairly accurate and maybe a few places in the other boroughs, but that'll be pretty much it.
mrernie
I have learnt my way easily around previous games, without actually trying to learn the city. Well, On San Andreas I always seemed to get lost on the way back to my house in the hood for some reason...

GTA, GTA III, and GTA IV are in different universes in which the development of a certain city on the East Coast has gone differently.

But thanks anyway, I've heard that NYC is quite a violent place but I don't actually know how violent it is so it's interesting to hear from someone who has first hand experience (that's me just assuming lol). @ Liquid KO: Here is the preview I mentioned, page 11 of the IGN feature: http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/863/863028p11.html @ mac915: I'd love to hear what your opinion is after you've played the game, just to know how LC and NYC fit together geographically...yes I'm that sad

During the 70's into the 90's it was pretty bad throughout the five bouroughs but Giuliani reduced crime alot here. Not to say its all pleasent now cause its def not, just visit any rough neighborhoods especially any of the projects (Queensbridge, Baisley, the pink houses, theres tons of others). But on the topic im sure there will be places that are familiar around liberty city.
