You usually have to do at least ONE mission before you can free roam, and I would assume you've gotta do one before you go into multiplayer as well. You may not even be able to go everywhere at first like before, you might have to unlock areas. I'll probably do the first 2-3 missions, then free roam for a long time, then work on missions and free roam here and there. Tenk Posted April 3, 2008 Share Posted April 3, 2008 first thing I do? two missions. then I'll go online and play some free roam, before going back and completeing the game up until I get access to every part of the city, then I'll see just how destuctible the environment is after I finish the missions, I'll start looking at the online mode with more then just a half thought about it, after which I'll locate cheats and run around the single player with rocket launcher and invincibility, causing chaos Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I'll probably start the missions like meeting up with Roman and getting settled but I'm going to take it really slow and just roam the city and get to know the surroundings. After a few missions when I have a gun or 2 I'm going to save the game and then mess around in terms of stealing tons of cars and killing tons of people. Gotta check out what police chases will be like in the new game, plus it will prepare me for the later missions when I'll have to be better at escaping. God damn I can't wait!!! Grab a bike and get my driving skill level up as high as I can while exploring the city. After that, probably a few more missions and then explore again on foot too get my running skill up. They act as good tutorials and usually give you plenty of time to explore. I'll spend time free roaming when I've gotten settled in. Maybe I'll do what I toy with sometimes and try to act like a normal citizen on a normal day. I'll grab a nice little economy car, drive around (obeying traffic laws *GASP*) town, stop at an office to do some "work", then go home, park the car, and take a walk around the neighborhood. If I have an accident while driving, I'll probably get out and yell at the other driver before leaving to get repaired. I'll just stroll around, take the subways and elevated rails across the city, maybe stop a a food stand for a bite to eat. Of course, I rarely do this on the way to missions simply because it's so tedious. Fortunately, if I can't get a good car, I can hail a taxi or, hopefully, take a bus. I love it. And physics only makes it better. Even after Assassin's Creed's letdown ending, I can find myself drawn back into because of one simple thing. The crush of a human body when hurled from atop a mighty perch. I could throw people from rooftops all day long, and never lose a chuckle in the process. And this world can be glad I have GTA IV to look forward to. Because without it, I'd have to take a trip to New York. See the sights. Meet the people. And listen for that little splat at the end of a drop. But I digress. Anyway, the first thing I'd do is facilitate my little habit in the quickest way possible, then meander onto some moneymaking, and probably catch a magic show.
