What's the point of breaking car windows?

If you look at the newly release GTA 4 video it shows 2 men stealing a car which looks to be either an Infernus or Cheetah. Anyways the guy breaks the window then about 1 second later after he gets in the car it starts up. It took about the same amount of time to break the glass, get in the car, and start it up as it would by just getting in a car in any other GTA.

I wanted to know if any of you see the point of having to break windows because I sure as hell don't.

Because it is hard to jimmy open a car door. If the doors are locked you have two choices. Jimmy the lock open with a coat hanger, which a lot of cars have security against . . . or kick the window in. You pick your choice.

ever found a car just sitting there in a carpark somewhere in the previous GTA`s, you casually walk up to it, you get to the door, hit the button to open it, and hey presto!

it doesnt open!!!

9 out of 10 times if you hit that car the alarm will go off...

this is probably the alternative to that, car alarm goes off you unlock it from the outside through the window, hotwire the car, speed off

Yeah but there was not nearly enough time to hotwire the car unless in GTA universe the car is ultimatcly hot wired once you enter the car. Oh wait it's always been like that in GTA.

They've confirmed several different approaches and animations for stealing cars so if you got bored of the stealing animation in previous GTA's (i don't know why you would, it was a split second thing) it'll at least take you much longer to get bored with this one's.

Im guessing you only hafta break the window of the cars that are locked (remember how CJ tugged at the door handle?) if they're unlocked it'll proley be a different animation
