It's 'than'.

Not to be confused with 'Dan'.

But really. GTA V will have 'so many cutscenes, it probably will outlive you'..

Cars will probably float still, then.

well dan houser told IGN that if you put all the cutscenes back to back and watched them, it would be longer that 2 movies. Not sure about 5 though!!!!

Just hope they dont break up the action and momentum of the game too much like so many games do. Although I have never wanted to skip a cutscene in any of

the GTA's to date. Their production values are second to none.

Haha tounge.gif, well atleast with gta i'll enjoy the cutscenes unlike mgs where it gets to the point of mass confusion that you don't even get the storyline.

I love the cutscenes in GTA so this is awesome news.

I don't know what the people are moaning about in the comments page of that link, if you don't like watching cutscenes just press 'A' and 'X' to skip the cutscenes and your problem is solved.

agreed.

i trust Houser's word.

5 films length would be a bit excessive i think!

its quoting the same british ratings board thing that has been talked about a lot. We dont know what exactly they looked at so 8 hours of cutscenes might not be what we think. And like other people said, dan houser said longer than 2 movies (we arent sure what exactly that means either)

well I think if you include all the alternative cutscenes we've heard about with new dialogue and such it could very well reach close to five hours.

Sounds horrible =s

Worse thing about large amounts of cut scenes is you never wanna skip them in case you miss something important/cool. =\

I love cut scenes. It's the only reason to play a single player game. Bioshock was a great game until I saw the cut scene at the end of the game. It was about 45 seconds long and it ruined the entire game for me. I guess I've evolved past playing a game for weeks only to have the game 'flip' and start over again.

5 feature films are like longer episodes of sitcoms and stuff, are they not? They aren't proper films, just special episodes. So thats about 4 or 5 hours of cutscenes

If you ask me...I'd say this is a good thing. This means the story will be huge and interesting, not like other games where you got only 10-12 missions and "tada" game over. I love gta cutscenes biggrin.gif

I think you won't be able to skip cut scenes this time, otherwise you won't get the story.

I just read earlier where a user said they posted this article originally on N4G.com , can't seem to find now though. Anyways , they calculated a feature film at 1.5 hours , hence the "5 feature films" comment.

I think they misused the BBFC document ( that was posted also in the 'your findings' thread)

http://www.bbfc.org.uk/website/Classified....38?OpenDocument

When submitted to the BBFC the work had a running time of 463m 0s.

7:43 Cutscenes

5:20 Gameplay Footage

My take is that since 463 mins = 7:43

if you take out 5:20 of gameplay footage it leaves 2:33 of actual cutscenes

pretty much what Houser said ( considering an average flick is between 1h15/1h30)

Now why they name the 7:43 "cutscenes", i guess it's because it really is "scenes" cutted from the full game

With the full cutscenes (as we gamers call them) in their entierty since it's a fixed thing in the game, and 5:20 of varied gameplay videos, all of that for rating purpose

And i assume this is only a part of the whole rating process that involves actually playing the game etc

Yeah, exactly the same thoughts entered my head when I worked out that 463m = 7 hours and 43 minutes.

R* will confirm in due course I'm sure.

Cutscenes help make the game for me. It's almost like a reward for the time you've invested.

I'm playing Condemned 2 right now, and after completing a level last night (and having to take a serious leak) I got to a 2 minute cutscene. It was worth the wait.

Hell, I watch the intro everytime I start it up. Get's me into the game.

Don Garcia aka NjNakedSnake

I have always loved watching GTA's cutscenes and secretly wished they were longer as they are very cinematic. Looks like my wish has been answered sevenfold, Good Lord...

Yes, Metal Gear Solid does come to mind. Oh, the talking, always with the talking.
